Reviewers trashed Donald Trumps first book. They dismissed The Art of the Deal as self-promotional pap. They called the author a huckster. The mans lack of taste is as vast as his lack of shame, said the Washington Post. Fortune noted his shallowness and pomposity and his need for more money, more toys and more attention. The book, said The New Republic, is a weapon in the continuing public relations war that is Donald Trumps way of doing business.

You should be used to it by now.
That’s what we all say when you post something.
You folks destroyed your own credibility.
Same with the various places you dredge up this stuff.
I have built my business on “Art of the Deal’ and it works...
I know other people that have done the same, so whoever this writer is, is full of B.S. I make a lot of money, ‘ahead of schedule and under budget’ that’s why people keep coming back...
Well since only MSM articles are allowed on Free Republic the discussions never stray far from the primrose path.
You talking about the Camille Paglia piece on Salon? She actually kind of likes Trump, hates Hillary.
Although she supports Bernie.
I read it this morning and did not think it too bad, she nailed the other republican candidates pretty well. I like the way she writes and her prose.
I looked up “hucksterism” in the dictionary:
“A form of demagoguery typically practiced in Marxism, Socialism, and Liberalism, but also used by Televangelists and so-called “principled conservatives” to fool a gullible public.”
I can’t help the fact that your candidate is a liberal hack who has failed so often. If you think these are bad, wait until the fall when the media really goes after him.
This isn’t made up stuff, this is what happened in 1988 when the media made him a celebrity.
Huckster was my assesment then and huckster is my assesment now.
It did and it was required reading in my family. I was 16 and a business major in college when it came out.
Man, I wish I could fail like The Donald.
amen
Assessment
Libby, I thought you opus’d out? Change your mind? Your ‘opus’ was quite the literary work so you may want to think twice before calling people on how they respond.
"what's a widget? .
it doesn't exist
the reality is in the real world ...Trumps has made billions, built more, employed more, ...then this writers ....who made chump change in comparison ....so who knows more?
+1
no joke
It’s Politico. Nothing more needs to be said.
Sure.
Reviewers trashed Donald Trumps first book. They dismissed The Art of the Deal as self-promotional pap. They called the author a huckster.
They were wrong. His book went on to be a best seller.
The mans lack of taste is as vast as his lack of shame, said the Washington Post. Fortune noted his shallowness and pomposity and his need for more money, more toys and more attention.
And he attained those things. Legally. By working for it. Which, apparently, makes the staff at Fortune jealous.
The book, said The New Republic, is a weapon in the continuing public relations war that is Donald Trumps way of doing business.
A weapon that has come in handy in dealing with the constant attacks by the Media and the Entire Republican Party apparatus.
I think it’s cute that Trump-bashers have to use left-wing garbage sites to smear Trump. What’s the word at MSNBC? What does Crazy Larry O’Donnel say?
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Dallas, Dynasty... All were at their peak in ‘88. Anything associated with wealth and power was. The Don’s book was no exception.
But just because something is a best seller (see Dianetics as one outlandish example) no matter what the subject, it doesn’t mean I want to model my life or business after the flavor of the moment.
/and yes, I read Art of the Deal while getting my degree in business.
“What the hell do these leftist pricks know about capitalism? Didnt Art of the Deal become a best seller?”
Trump: The Art of the Deal is a 1987 book by business magnate Donald Trump and journalist Tony Schwartz. Part memoir and part a business advice book, it reached #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list and held a position in the list for 51 weeks.[1]
