Cruz: Trump's attack on my wife shows his character
Politico ^ | March 23, 2016 | Eliza Collins

Ted Cruz attacked Donald Trump’s character for threatening his wife on Tuesday and blamed his opponent's attack on “a very bad night” in Utah.

“If Donald wants to get in a character fight he's better off sticking with me, because Heidi is way out of his league,” Cruz said on CNN’s “New Day,” responding to a late-night tweet from Trump warning, "Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!”

The attack reveals a lot about Trump's character, Cruz said. "That should be beneath Donald," he said. "The reason he's doing that is because he had a very bad night last night. He got clobbered in Utah."

Trump’s tweet — which began with “Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad" — is an apparent reference to an online ad by anti-Trump super PAC Make America Awesome, which used a photo of Trump’s wife Melania posing nude in British GQ in 2000 in an attempt to sway conservative Mormon voters.

Cruz responded via Twitter shortly after: "Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought. #classless.”

On CNN, host Chris Cuomo asked the Texas senator if engaging with Trump was a good idea.

"The tweet he was unhappy about was not even a super PAC supporting me. It is an independent group. I don’t know them,” Cruz said. "When Donald gets scared, when he gets angry, when he gets threatened ... So last night Donald threatened my wife, he went directly after my wife."

Cruz also ratcheted up his pressure on John Kasich, who fared poorly in Tuesday's contests, to get out of the race, repeatedly calling the Ohio governor a “spoiler.”

In the real world Lawyer parsing and deniability games do not work that’s why your side is losing this issue.

Nobody is buying Cruz is innocent here. Nor will we.

Yup, we have yet to see Cruz clearly and emphatically denounce the PAC ad. But something tells me the cruznadians would be dissapointed if Cruz ends up deniuncing it.

consistency is not recognized as a positive value

I've noticed. I do not consider this a positive development.

That’s right. He’s a fighter. Something the GOP has needed for a long time.

Guess I missed it.

No, you didn't miss it, Captain Peter Blood.

You wrote: Then he should have gotten out in front of it and condemned that PAC and disavowed it.

All Cruz did was say it wasn't his ad.

He didn't condemn it or denounce it, as he should have.

txradioguy is trying to spin Cruz saying it wasn't his ad as "denouncing" or "condemning" - which is NOT true.

Cruz obviously APPROVES the message of the ad which asks the viewer to vote for Ted Cruz.

You have obviously never owned a successful business that required government approval for something.

Why won't Cruz just condemn or denounce the ad, CSM?

It's pretty simple.

Hey I’m in here I just got nothin to say about a guy that parades his wife in a men’s magazine without even her Easter bonnet on and then gets uptight about a political add that forwards the message. I’m speechless.

Why won't Cruz just condemn or denounce the ad, Theophilus?

If the shoe was on Trump's foot, I'd be asking the same question.

It's a simple task.

I think that Trump may have identified Cruz's weak point -lawyerspeak.

All I’m going to say is that -

Such a sad state of affairs when a presidential campaign is reduced to “this”.

And we see the increasing level of lowliness every four years.

Did you consider the Swift Boat Vets to be “Pro Bush” or did you take them at their word that they were “Anti Kerry?”

Thanks ... you are making my point brilliantly !!!

When did the Swift Boaters ever put in their message "or you could support GW Bush" ... lol ...

LOL remember it is the squeaky wheels who are yakking the most LOUDLY. There are thousands of lurkers, quietly reading and, hopefully, praying for God’s mercy and grace, giving us a spiritual revival first and who we will then deserve as President.

As for the anger. Remember, it’s been decades of oppression for the white male. DT is the epitome of what liberal feminists despise. I don’t like him very much, never have, but I do admire those who are honorable and willing to lay down their lives for their friends.

I have few civilian heroes but many military heroes. Come to think of it, King David is my Biblical hero. Can’t wait to talk to him.

“trump said if they keep going after Trumps wife then he will go after cruz;’s wife.”

I still don’t see how they are going after trump’s wife in this ad. They say Here is the First Lady or vote for Cruz. It seems rather a bland ad, to be honest. They didn’t attack anyone. Showed a picture that she posed for. Again, if trump has a problem with that, he should discuss it with his wife. As someone earlier mentioned, he was rather proud of those pictures of his wife.

Slow news day on the candidate front, maybe?

“Do Trumpanzees know any emotion besides anger?”

The one thing trump has done very well is let people know that if you disagree with someone, you are to yell at them, call them names a twelve year old would say, and interrupt them. It has been very effective for him and I see a lot of that attitude lately. It’s amazing reading how many people have lost jobs over the last four months due to ripping their boss or another co-worker apart. Then they discuss lawsuits. It’s very entertaining to read on social media.

Confused? The PAC that put out the anti-Trump ad is not affiliated with Ted Cruz in any way. That’s the truth.

If you oppose the clear and obvious truth, then it is you who is “confused at best.”
