When I was in college I threw the javelin. I was not real good, less than 200’.
When we practiced, another guy and I would throw back and forth on the football field. There was really no chance of getting hit. If the javelin was heading toward you, all you had to do was walk out of the way.
Now arrows would have been insane.
We had a girl...coach’s daughter ...get hit in the forehead with a javelin. No harm done.

In boy scouts, we ran a week-long summer camp for cub scouts. Setting up the weekend before, a buddy and I shot an arrow (the blunt-tipped type) out into a large field, to see who could arch the shot and make the arrow land closest to center.
I shot, he went out and got the arrow, then launched it back. We started shooting it back and forth across the field.
Soon other scouts showed up and joined in. Pretty soon we had about a dozen people involved.
Shortly thereafter the scout master arrived. He just about lost his mind. haha
