"The economic and human costs would be tremendous," said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, the conservative research group's president and an adviser to John McCain during his 2008 presidential campaign.

Last August, Politico, with help from experts at groups spanning the political spectrum, rang up the costs to carry out the key provisions of Trump's immigration plan, including mass deportation, tripling the number of immigration officers and walling off the southern border, at $166 billion at the low end.

And it would be worth ever MF penny.
Gov only enforces laws when they apply to somebody else.
We would save that in ObamaCare costs (that they were not even supposed to get.....remember Joe Wilson) in one year.
Illegal aliens are like cockroaches, if you see one cockroach you can be sure there are one hundred you don’t see.
If they admit there are thirteen million illegals, the accurate number is closer to forty million.
Estimated cost of illegal immigration is about $113 million per year. A payback period of less than four years. One of the best investments we could ever make. http://www.fairus.org/publications/the-fiscal-burden-of-illegal-immigration-on-united-states-taxpayers
And that’s just the cost attributable to tax. The total when you consider property values and social disruption, the cost of crime borne by the public, is much, much more.
Maybe to Mexico and Central America, but I refuse to believe that if you subtract all the benefits paid to the illegals and their children in medical, housing, food and the costs to infrastructure and the criminal justice system that we at worst case break even.
If some wetback yells out who is gonna make your tacos and burritos, I will respond the robot that does it faster, cleaner, better and without calling me names in Spanish while he does it! What value do these morons put on the lives lost and destroyed by illegals?
Damn! Just think how much we could SAVE if we didn’t enforce ANY ‘law(s)’!!
Yet, no mention on the ‘savings’ from the taxpayer being bled dry by the FREE: housing, utility, food vouchers, schools, h-care/hospitals (welfare in general), jobs that Americans WILL take....
Cost estimates could easily be all over the place depending on the assumptions made.
I would assume considerable self-deportation, as that has been observed in the past. Any study that lacks a variable for self-deportation is deficient IMO.
Why do illegals self-deport? Bad economic times here can do that, or improved economic conditions in their home country. A credible threat of apprehension here combined with some consequence for violating American law, could lead foreigners to deport themselves.
Illegal aliens cost us in crime and welfare dollars. That should be recognized also.
What about the services they provide: Nannies, gardeners, construction, agriculture, and other services? That is certainly hard to measure. We might have to pay our fellow Americans more to do these services. I say, “suck it up.” We may see our grocery store bills going up and the price of new construction going up. If it gets to be too big a problem, here's an idea we can consider: legal immigration on our own terms.
If you just stop the influx you solve a big portion of the problem. Get anotheer 25% to self deport and that alone is a huge improvement. Cost, maybe $15 billion, reduction in welfare and crime $100 billion. Not becoming a third world nation, priceless.
What is it costing legal American citizens now, you mofos!
Count me in!
Easy. Because that would show that govt is NOT needed and we can’t be having the plebes thinking (even if it’s only a spark) in self-reliance/non-govt-alternatives.
20,000 per deportation? I call BS.
$400 billion well spent.
It really depends on how much the reward is...
My plan.
Step one: E-Verify
Step two: 9 months for employers to register illegal workers they want to sponsor for a guest worker visa.
Step three: Employers pay administrative costs for criminal background checks and visa costs
Step four: FICA payments for formerly illegal guest workers become their penalties. Employers payments pay for monitoring and enforcement. No social security benefits.
Step five: Unleash ICE for workplace enforcement.
Step six: Guest workers are not allowed family status or a path to citizenship. That is a separate process. If a guest worker commits a crime they lose their status and are sent home.
Step seven: Guest workers are allowed freedom of travel back to their home countries. Families are allowed some number of short visits a year to the US on a special visa (not while pregnant). Violations of visa means loss of status and deportation for the worker.
Of course this will never get passed because both parties want lots of illegals here.
Drain the swamp. Require employers verify ID for hiring. Can’t produce one? Sorry. Employers hire them anyway — big fines. It becomes self-financing — at least partially.
It’s employment that brings the illegals here.
“You dont have to deport them, just make it a felony to hire any illegal.”
NO. Biz aren’t there to do the JOB of GOVT.
Put the blame where blame is due: the lawyers/judges (revolving door), govt employees (sanctuary cities, failure to enforce).
How ‘bout prosecuting those that DON’T enforce the law(s) instead with no statute of limitations?
Every felony offense a MIN. 5 yrs. hard labor AND $100K fine (pegged to inflation). File the paperwork so that when they lose office, they are immediately arrested and tried.
These fools grabbed that dollar amount straight out of their asses.
Booting all undocumented will save an exponential amount beyond the cost of removal, if it is calculated in dollar amounts, or survival of the nation.
Cheaper than keeping them here but let’s start by making employers vet all employees through E-Verify
