Ted Cruz, the high-octane conservative U.S. senator from Texas, made the case Friday night in Phoenix that he provides the only viable alternative to GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
-snip-
"There's no good reason (for Kasich to stay in the race)," Cruz said during a question-and-answer session with conservative TV and radio commentator Sean Hannity that was carried live on the Fox News Channel. "He is essentially the spoiler. A vote for John Kasich is a vote for Donald Trump."
Cruz's dig at Kasich, made just a few days before Tuesday's winner-take-all Arizona presidential preference election, prompted a Twitter response from John Weaver, the Kasich campaign's chief strategist.
"Cruz is a spoiler. A vote for either Cruz or Trump is a vote for Hillary," Weaver tweeted.

And don’t forget Graham. That makes them an establishment threesome with King Romney, Queen Graham, and Prince Teddy in the magical land of establishmentia where kids come from afar clutching Teddy bears and kicking soccer balls.
Executing the “Beck” strategy I see....
The Republican Party-Pooper ;-)
Wow, if true that's funny. So Kasich can't drop out without handing the nomination to Trump.
Gosh, I hope that isn't wishful thinking.
I would like to point out that my impression anyway is that the OH Republican Party is run like a secret society that wants nothing to do with us voting fodder. These are all probably politically connected people who are Kasich delegates. Can't help but wonder if they'd follow the rules if they didn't meet their agenda.
JMHO
The pot calling the kettle black again!
This from a clown that would need to win 87% of the remaining delegates.
Kasich is the William Scranton of 2016 (52 years after 1964). Both Kasich and Scranton were even born in PA!
You can’t leave out Haley: now on her third candidate, or did she forget to back Jebbie first!
Our current real life story of ‘The Lady or the Tiger”
Which door would be chosen? Which candidate is the Trojan Horse for the GOPe? Does Romney want Cruz because he knows more about Cruz than WTP -a true insider pretending to be a far outsider. Or is Romney for Cruz only to stop our man TRUMP? Romney has never been seen as a Conservative unless you admit that he might be a ‘severe Conservative’.(IIRC)
Liberals say, “What’s to spoil?” when they are called a “spoiler”.
Goldman ObamaTRADE Cruz forgot that Romney endorsed Kasich.
Oh, that was last week before Romney and Cruz tied the knot.
hes also keeping Trump from going over 50% and making it harder to reach that 1300 delegates...
Only if you assume all Kasich’s delegates would go to Trump. And it’s 1237, not 1300 delegates that Trump needs. BTW, even if Trump is shy delegates going into the convention, he has from early June (last primary election) to lateish July (start of convention) to negotiate with the unbound delegates, of which there are more than he would need, in all likelihood.
Democrats love to “spoil” ballots.
Kasich has signs of selfism. He decided the election is all about himself now... he constantly talks about what he did and how important he is/was... in the debates, he complained about not getting enough time.. he stays in so he can go to the convention believing they will put him in as President... he thought he was too important to be stopped by the police... he believes he is the only one who knows how to do anything.. and he talks about himself as if he is already in that position of power... and when he comes on to talk, that’s when I change the channel. I can’t imagine Kasich taking second fiddle to Trump, in being the VP... he’s not the kind to believe anyone knows more than he does. That’s what I see in this man...
Cruz is Trump”s chief opposition, and a viable candidate. Cruz announced entered the race before Trump did. Why should Cruz get out. Why not Trump? Why have primaries? I agree the rules should not be changed, but if Trump wants this nomination he will have to earn it. Over 60% of voters DO NOT WANT Trump and will not vote for him. Why didn’t Trump run against Romney four years ago!! He withdrew, as losers do. I hope all this anti-Cruz yammering keeps you Trumpee’s happy, because it is not getting you any converts.
Eighty percent of voters don’t want Cruz. Look at the nationwide polls now—Trump has something like 2 1/2 times the support of Cruz (roughly 49% to 20%).
But that’s not the point. The point is that right now Cruz is incredibly unlikely to win enough votes for a first ballot victory. He is however the only possible obstacle to Trump’s victory. Cruz is getting a rush of support in funding and GOPe endorsements precisely because they want to use him as the spoiler to keep Trump from a first-ballot victory. And if that happens, a Ryan/Romney/whatever ticket is a real possibility. If Cruz would only unite as Trump’s VP running mate, we’d guarantee a victory over the GOPe substitution strategy.
One more thing.. Kasich is for open borders.. he won’t send any back.. he’s the good witch who wants to be kind and benevolent to everyone who comes across our borders. That is a blind, willfull ignorance of what is the right thing to do for this country. Those who think it’s “Christian” to help everyone come here and then feed them, give them health care.. by taking from those who work and giving to border crossers... is really off the wall thinking. It’s stupidity... Without borders and rules, we’d be a muslim country in no time.
Oh, and I’m not claiming that Cruz should get out. I am only pointing out the obvious in that he, rather than Kasich, is the “spoiler” at this point. Moreover, Cruz’s entire pitch has become one of “unite behind me, as the only one who can conceivably spoil Trump winning the nomination”.
That’s what his campaign has become, and that is one of an overt spoiler.
I wouldn’t actually say Cruz should necessarily drop out at this point—only that conservatives shouldn’t waste their vote by giving the GOPe what they want, with a Trump-spoiling vote for Cruz at this point.
Good point, Cruz announced before Trump. He had a head start, so to speak. How come he’s not winning?
After the backhanded compliment Mitt gave Cruz yesterday, if he were a man of honor & decency, he would drop out. Because Mitt announced that they intended to USE Cruz voters to force a brokered/contested convention in order to foist a “mystery ticket” on the GOP voters. And it won’t include Cruz, btw.
And after knowing what the game plan is, any human being that goes to the polls and casts a vote for Cruz should be seeking psychiatric help this weekend. There, they can figure out why they are voting for a Jeb Bush/Lindsey Graham ticket or whatever...
