Utah Speaker of the House Greg Hughes just endorsed Donald Trump in front of a crowd of about 400 at a rally for the insurgent Republican presidential candidate.
Hughes says he met Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr. recently who asked for his endorsement.
Hughes spoke to a revved up crowd at the Infinity Event Center in downtown Salt Lake City as Trump fans waited for the billionaire to address the crowd.

as a Utahan, I’m very pleased that Speaker Greg Hughes has endorsed Trump! This is really great news!
The only cause the GOPe’s have joined is to use Cruz to try to take out Trump.

You are in fiction land. Cruz is solidly conservative across the board on the issues. Trump is confused and a mess: likes planned parenthood, touch back amnesty, etc.

And he’s running a crappy campaign. Honestly, every time I stumble across him I immediately switch the channel yet the couple of words I catch on the way out is always Donald Trump. I can’t remember when Cruz even tried to fake the issues.

Not true. I think Cruz showed his true colors today when he heartily embraced the fake endorsement of Mitt Romney. I say fake endorsement because Romney couldn’t care less about Cruz. He just wants to use him as a tool and Cruz is evidently eager to please.
good point ... I understand Trump and Cruz split even the Alaska delegates that Rubio had. Alaska rules state Rubio would have had to stay in the race through April. I heard the number was 14, I assume that meant 7 each. Still 7 closer to the magic number for Trump.

They ended up with 14 each. Trump added 3 delegates.
It was 12-11-5. It’s now 14-14.
Trump took 3; Cruz took 2. In addition, Cruz lost one of his Rule 40 states.

I was surprised when Cruz became entangled with the loony Beck and handed out teddy bears to illegals. It was downhill from there. While politicians do lie and flip-flop, Curz's lies became too much. His KKK harping was absurd. And he is not a nbc. His handshake with Robot Rubio and overall behavior was another low point.
What totally turned me was his "blame the victim" after the Chicago violence. His statement was disgusting. Now with Romney and Graham endorsing him, it is difficult to claim he isn't part of the establishment, maybe was all along.
No. Alaska did not count as a 40b state for anyone. That would require 15 delegates.

To be honest, I was really surprised that Speaker Hughes endorsed Trump. I don’t usually follow who the Utah GOP Speaker endorses, but I certainly wouldn’t have thought Trump. Great to see Utah Legislators bucking the Establishment!
Unlike some, I’m actually feeling very good about Trump’s chances here! Ted was supposed to win several other states like North Carolina, and South Carolina; he lost both. Utah is NO shoe in for Cruz.

It’s past time for the fans to figure that out. They have been so played, suckers, used by Cruz, plain and simple.
I voted for him. Who knew all this background when we sent him to the Senate? TPP tell. Pathway to legalization tell. The real pony show for the rubes— the great 21 hour filibuster.
