I still like Walker for VP. He's the only one who was concerned about fulfilling his duties.

FYI, from last February:

Donald Trump Hosts One-on-One Meeting With Scott Walker

I don’t think Trump needs to make any deals here. He’s in the driver’s seat. He will probably put all rumblings of a brokered/contested convention to bed in the next month.

I will still vote for Cruz if he’s still on the ballot when it’s time to vote in Maryland though. It’s a matter of principle for me as it should be in a primary. This is not the time to vote for who’s “most electable”, allowing oneself to be herded like a sheep. One must vote with one’s conscience in the primary (if not the general too). If one has a clear conscience voting for Trump now so be it but I cannot bring myself to that point. I will not allow myself to be swept away by the so-called “bandwagon effect”. That’s for dopes and rubes not those with a mind of their own.

And before someone asks: yes I will vote for Trump in the general if it comes to that and I will so so with eyes wide open. I will not be expecting much from him save fulfilling his promise to deport illegals (which any president can do with the stroke of a pen and a phone call), at least trying to build a wall (but probably not succeeding), negotiating better trade deals, and rebuilding and using our military might when needed.

Every other promise he’s made, from preventing Muslim immigration, to “repealing Obamacare”, to “defunding planned Parenthood” and all the rest he’s said other than what I’ve outlined above he will either not do or fail to do. Anyone who expects more than what I’ve outlined above is in for a serious rude awakening. He’s not going to be the next Reagan. But he’s the best “at least not a Democrat” candidate we’ve had since (and including) Bush (senior).

[After last night I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump picks Kasich.]

TRUMP will pick CRUZ as VP over defiant KASICH. He needs CRUZ’S delegates to buffer the GOPe clandestine plans to usurp the will of the Republican voters.

You know, you could go to various betting parlors and make book on that.

You should go and bet the farm on your sure thing prediction.

You guys are so gullible. Donald Trump gave money to congressmen that supported that ban. He supported an outright ban on semi-automatic rifles. Here is what he said:

“I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons…”

Wakeup. You are supporting a fraud.

Cruz will probably continue to win the western states, Trump is almost certain to win the remaining mid atlantic/rust belt and north eastern states in a 3 way race, with a possible small state oddball maybe a RI or CT could go Cruz or something.. .Kasich perhaps will surprise in a state, but I doubt it, he has a ground game in Ohio that doesn’t exist anywhere else for him, but that’s really it...

If Cruz or Kasich or both are determined to take this all the way to the convention and attempt to undermine Trump with a contested convention, the GOP is effectively done as a national party. Voter anger will not only be taken out on the presidential candidate put forward, but the senate, house, state and local races... up and down the ballot you will see Republicans wind up slaughtered.

The sheer stupidity I am witnessing by what is called the GOP Establishment shows how completely incompetent and out of touch they are.

Pa has 71 delegates.

As of now, it’s in the Courts as to whether Kasich is one the ballot. Notice how Son of a Postman gleefully exclaimed he’s going to Philadelphia today (NOT the Rust Belt, Marcellus Shale, right across the border western part of PA). Why? Because he needs to make deals to get on the ballot here FAST.

Trump should challenge him—rulez is rulez!!! And Trump would take 71.

Trump’s been doing that - people aren’t paying attention. He’s talked to congressional leaders, he’s been imploring the party to unify behind the movement that the whole world is talking about, he’s asked the party to embrace what’s happening.

The problem with that is Cruz has become so tainted. He blabbed again last night about Trump leaving the Iran deal intact. Flat out lie. Ted’s killed himself with lies. He’s become fatally flawed by his own mouth.

Me too. At least Kasich doesn’t constantly lie about Trump. And he’s a lot easier to listen to - doesn’t talk at you, in that patronizing, condescending, pregnant paused parsed way that Ted does.

“Do you know if Ben Carson or Chris Christie have any delegates?”

Ben has 8 (IIRC) Christie none.

D’oh! You are 100% correct. I forgot to add the “June 7th” date marker when I typed that up. Yes, California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota all vote June 7th, two weeks after Washington on May 24th.

Mea culpa.

Kasich can't even be nominated at the GOP convention per Rule 40(b), which since 2012 has required that a candidate have a majority of delegates in eight states. Before 2012 this rule required that candidates have a plurality of delegates in at least five states.

Only Trump and Cruz will meet the current Rule 40(b) standard.

Plus Trump knows how to make deals. If he has 1000+ pledged delegates when the primaries end, he'll get the nomination.

Not sure. I think as long as campaigns are suspended the candidate retains the count. Which is the same effect, particularly when they join/endorse another candidate.

I know of no state that forces delegates to follow the lead of the candidate they are pledged to. A lot of states allow delegates to be ‘released’, but they become true free agents.

Any FReepers know different about their states?
