If Trump gets big numbers in Florida, youre not going to be able to stop him. Youll just tear the party apart, he said.
If Trump wins Florida by the margin anticipated, then [Sen. Marco] Rubio could stay in just to affect the numbers, but he wont be a serious candidate anymore, Gingrich said.
Gingrich is watching Florida closely, but hes also looking at Ohio, where his former House Budget chairman John Kasich is looking to get a win to keep himself alive going into the convention, amid pressure from Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% .
If Kasich wins Ohio, he could certainly stay in and be part of a potential negotiating block, Gingrich said. But in five Ohio counties, 20 percent of the voters are people who voted in the Democratic primary in the past. That is very, very good for Trump.
Gingrich threw cold water all over the idea of a brokered convention, which Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol has been plotting. If no candidate gets 50 percent of the delegates on the first ballot, then on the second ballot the pledged delegates can become un-pledged and support whomever the party bosses tell them to support.
Its childish nonsense, Gingrich said. There are two potential presidential nominees. One is named Donald. One is named Ted. The idea that some clever Washington intellectual or power broker put quote marks around power broker can step into an election in which millions have voted and magically change the trajectory of history? Its goofy. Theres two players standing.
Gingrich speculated that Trump and Cruz might actually form an alliance, similar to how they did in the early days of the campaign, in order to prevent a brokered convention at the last minute.

He will also win PA, AZ and NJ in a landslide
But according to Rush Trump could win all 5 states today and Cruz can credibly come roaring back.
This is the Breitbart reporter who was fired for questioning Michelle Fields' story. Now he's back.
In his own words..."I hate the Senate".

I don’t know if that is reflected in the polls. That being the crossover vote. I am praying for Trump to take Ohio.
Newt’s time has come and gone. He has a lot of good ideas and a lot of bad ideas. He has been chummy with Hillary and lot’s of liberals. If you really listen to him and ignore the adjectives and adverbs, what he says is bland. Nope, he needs to stay with his think tank.
When Gingrich won South Carolina in2012 he said he would almost certainly be the Republican nominee. I’m not sure I’d depend on his predictive powers.
What kind of deal could they possibly come to? Trump could never have Cruz on the ticket and Cruz isn't interested in a cabinet post.
TRUMP NEEDS SOMEONE LIKE NEWT TO BE CHIEF OF STAFF TO HELP HIM DEAL WITH THE CONGRESS. THE BEST PERSON LIKE NEWT IS REALLY NEWT, ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTE.
I wonder what job Trump has promised Newt?
All aboard the Scozzafava train.
Its a real possibility, still. There positions are not that far off.
Does Cruz believe that he could come out the victor in a brokered convention?
This is a real trust issue.
Do you trust the Bush family or Trump?
Nancy Reagan took to her grave that the man who attempted to kill Reagan was a business associate of the Bush family. Fact.
Is the polling place near a cemetery???.....???....???
Politico reporting that a potential "conservative" third party cabal plans to meet in two days!
Of course, that useless douchebag Eric Erickson is one of the three organizing this.
Hilarious.
Like you say, Cruz could have all the leverage going in. Either let it go to the convention or be Trump’s kingmaker. I think in that circumstance Trump puts Lyin’ Ted on the ticket.
All 3 of them, Cruz, Rubio or Kashick will have the extra votes needed for Trump to win if he needs them. At this point, all 3 of them are just looking for the last minute deal from Donald.
Turns out he may have been smart to question Fields’ story.
If it’s a brokered convention then I’m hard pressed to see any way the party survives.
Kasich is one of the guys who stabbed Gingrich in the back, wasn’t he?
