“If Trump gets big numbers in Florida, you’re not going to be able to stop him. You’ll just tear the party apart,” he said.
“If Trump wins Florida by the margin anticipated, then [Sen. Marco] Rubio could stay in just to affect the numbers, but he won’t be a serious candidate anymore,” Gingrich said.
Gingrich is watching Florida closely, but he’s also looking at Ohio, where his former House Budget chairman John Kasich is looking to get a win to keep himself alive going into the convention, amid pressure from Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% .
“If Kasich wins Ohio, he could certainly stay in and be part of a potential negotiating block,” Gingrich said. “But in five Ohio counties, 20 percent of the voters are people who voted in the Democratic primary in the past. That is very, very good for Trump.”
Gingrich threw cold water all over the idea of a brokered convention, which Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol has been plotting. If no candidate gets 50 percent of the delegates on the first ballot, then on the second ballot the pledged delegates can become “un-pledged” and support whomever the party bosses tell them to support.
“It’s childish nonsense,” Gingrich said. “There are two potential presidential nominees. One is named Donald. One is named Ted. The idea that some clever Washington intellectual or power broker — put quote marks around ‘power broker’— can step into an election in which millions have voted and magically change the trajectory of history? It’s goofy. There’s two players standing.”
Gingrich speculated that Trump and Cruz might actually form an alliance, similar to how they did in the early days of the campaign, in order to prevent a brokered convention at the last minute.

So I had to stand in line this morning to vote in Chauncey Ohio .Unusual for a primary.I personally saw 10 people switch to republican from democrat.3 of them said they were life long democrats but they wanted to make America Great Again.they looked to be at least in thier 80s.Go TRUMP ! I distrusTED and Kasich is Mitts BFF.This Low Information Voter voted for Trump!
Trump is going to win Florida, New York and California in landslides along with many other states many of which are winner take all.
There will no contested convention.
Newt is my first choice as Trump’s running mate.

Marco is helping Trump more than anyone else. By staying in the race he’s keeping the anti-trump vote splintered. Not sure if it would go to Cruz or Kasich but it is definitely keeping the opposition to Trump fragmented. Same thing the Conservatives typically do to help the GOPe get their moderate every year.

WILL BE CHALLENGED IN COURT AND LOOK BAD FOR KASICK WHEN HE LOSES.

That all said, I am certainly not a fan of Kasich.
He’s worse than Mitt. He’s white Obama.
I saw this morning that over $20 million has been spent by the gop running ads FOR different candidates.
Over $44 million has been run AGAINST Trump.
If Trump doesn’t win this I can’t see how anyone calling themselves a patriot can keep supporting that corrupt party.
Trump owes Little Marco jack squat.

and why Rubix told his people in Ohio to vote for Kasich. From the GOPe’s position, the barbarians are not just at the gates, they are inside the walls devouring the food inventory and raiding the treasury.
At least a thank you would be nice. Without little marco Cruz would be running away with the nomination.

Somebody needs to buy Kristol a clue. We are done with elites like him, who think they are going to decide who the nominee will be.
I like Newt, too, but he is the anti-Christ to Socons, and would be a drag on the ticket.
Yeah, the way they are acting, you'd think they're afraid they'll get locked up or hanged.
