In comments that are sure to draw the ire of her Republican critics, Hillary Clinton sought to contrast the war in Iraq with the intervention in Libya during her stint as secretary of state.
“I’ve said Iraq was a mistake,” Clinton told Chris Matthews during an MSNBC town hall event on Monday night. “Libya was a different kind of calculation. And we didn’t lose a single person. We didn’t have a problem in supporting our European and Arab allies in working with NATO.”
As Politico noted, Clinton was probably referring to the U.S.-backed overthrow of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi in 2011 and not the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks in Benghazi, where four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, were killed.
Matthews pressed Clinton on what he called the United States’ push for “regime change” in places like Iraq and Libya.
“Now, is Libya perfect? It isn’t,” the former secretary said. “But did they have two elections that were free and fair where they voted for moderates. Yes, they did.

It must not be forgotten that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama left, not four, but some forty Americans to die in Benghazi. It was only through the heroism of Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, acting in contradiction of direct orders to stand down and at the cost of their own lives, that most of those forty returned home alive. Again, let it be reiterated that Obama and Clinton were comfortable condemning forty Americans to ugly death at the hands of radical Muslims and to lie about it afterwards rather than admit to what was going on in Benghazi or to their own failures. As Hugh Hewitt wrote,
“...the cries for help from the brave civilians and soldiers of Benghazi were many and urgent throughout the hours of attack. But the response was ... silence. ”
How about the Ambassador?

I would agree. But then again....this is Hillary.
Yes, this is worse because of the ready image that it conjures in people’s minds.
Costing people their jobs will hurt you among those people in that particular industry, but forgetting about the lives that were lost on your watch is a whole different level of callousness.
