In a state-controlled outlet, the North Korean government threatened Sunday to use its new alleged hydrogen bomb technology to reduce Manhattan, New York, to rubble, warning that its nuclear weapon is much bigger than Soviet weaponry.
The Washington Post has translated parts of the article in DPRK Today, a publication rarely used for the purpose of military bluster. When North Korean officials seek to announce military developments or threaten other countries, it usually turns to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) or the Rodong Sinmun, the state newspaper. Both outlets have online English versions, making them more accessible to international media.
The DPRK Today articlerun with the byline Cho Hyong Il, allegedly a North Korean nuclear scientistwarns, Our hydrogen bomb is much bigger than the one developed by the Soviet Union. It muses, If this H-bomb were to be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile and fall on Manhattan in New York City, all the people there would be killed immediately and the city would burn down to ashes.

Any nuke explosion would definitely be detected seismically.
Any large radiation release would (probably) be detected by sensors outside NK.
“First, we take Manhattan....then we take Berlin.”
Not saying this is a valid actionable threat.
But America has ignored threats before around NYC and has been schooled. Never forget.
Snall, harmless appearing container ship.

Detonated about 20 miles offshore
The tidal wave would bury Manhattan
I was joking by saying it’s a wasteland.
Exactly.
Everyone should read “Escape from Camp 14”.
I am not worried about North Korea’s weapons. I’m worried about their cooperation with a Iran. They may actually have the means to deliver a warhead. We already know they have the plans for one.
AT 20 miles away (and this is considering a MT weapon) by the time it got to Manhattan it would just be a normal storm surge type event.
Rodman needs to schedule another basketball game for NK.
I could, with as much credibility, threaten to pop a balloon in front of Kim Jong Un in the middle of Pyongyang.
Dear NSA Monitor: I am not making such a threat. Just so ya know.
Nah, Obama wouldn't let that happen.
Too many leftist Democrat voters there.
Obama only wants white, Christian America destroyed
Another thought: Even if the N. Koreans nuked Manhattan,
those dead Democrats would still be voting.
So, maybe Obama really wouldn't mind Manhattan disappearing.
Kim Little Riceball should disguise his H-bomb as a transgender guy wanting to enter the women’s room anywhere in Manhattan.
NOTHING could stop that!
;^)
They have.... most norks look horribly disfigured
The Juche-Fruit rides to the sound of his own gums.
That’s what people used to say about China.
Time for a med check?
We have no credible evidence that Nork can launch an intercontinental bottle rocket, or that they have anything close to an H-bomb in their arsenal. And even if they could manage to get something off the launch pad, I suspect we, the Russians, and/or the Chinese would shoot it down before it got higher than a child's kite.
Which is not to say that Uncle Kim isn't stupid enough to try something like that. It's just that the repercussions of an unprovoked attack on the US are so catastrophic that either outcome -- success or failure -- would seal his fate. Not even obama is so big a pussy he would not strike back.
Wow! This is a real dilemna for those still residing in the U.S. (Which excludes soviet-satellite states like NY,CT, MA, NJ, DE, MD,VT, and CA...)
I thought Putin told North Korea to shut it? They better be careful not to piss off Putin.
