Cruz: Responsibility in campaigns 'starts at the top'
The Hill ^ | 3/13/2016 | Rebecca Savransky

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said on Sunday that the protesters at rival Donald Trump's rallies are behaving "abusively and wrong," but added that it doesn't help when the GOP front-runner encourages violence.

"At the end of the day in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top," the Texas senator said on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

"And it is not beneficial when you have a presidential candidate like Donald Trump telling his supporters, 'Punch that guy in the face.' We ought to have a president who brings us together, who doesn't seek to divide us."

Cruz said on Sunday that the protesters at Trump's rallies don't have a right to "threaten violence."

He added that it's important a candidate show respect for the voters.

Trump supporters have done it all along, have you not been reading the threads? This is just the first time they are on the receiving end. The irony is not lost on !most of us.

Trump is the party of rage. Get used to it, looks like he will be our King.

I still insist that Cruz HAD NO principles to begin with.
He just talked the talk that he felt would resonate with believers and “low information” types.
Much to his chagrin, we aren’t as dumb as he would like us to be and this is the information age and our network makes sure that he doesn’t pull it off.
What we’re seeing now is the REAL deal and I/we sure are fortunate to have his mask fall off before we made a really big mistake.

tell this to all the European women who have been raped, beaten...

I'm an expert at putting words out of my own mouth. I don't need someone else putting them in there for me. Wearing the cloths you want is not stirring up ants. It's merely walking past their hole and you'd have every reason to do something about such ants.

“Trump spent 10% of his time at the microphone attacking others, the tone he set has come home to roost. He is riding to power on a tidal wave of rage that he feeds at every chance. His followers are a reflection of efforts, the division of the country are the fruits of his labor.”

Correct. It’s like a teacher in the classroom. The teacher sets expectations of behavior and what is or isn’t acceptable. If there is a student disrupts the classroom, does the teacher confront the disruptor and deal with it, or does the Teacher tell all of the other students that he/she would like to punch the disruptor? Does the teacher tell the other students that if they punch the disruptor, the teacher will bail them out of trouble?

It sets a tone, with people that are already rightfully angry, that encourages “Lord of the Flies” type behavior. It doesn’t excuse the disruptors, it’s just that there are better ways to deal with them without encouraging or signaling the crowd that it’s OK to take enforcement into their own hands.

The leader is responsible for the tone that they set.

Perhaps you should actually read what Ted said. He does not agree with the violence, he denounced it and the whole mindset that Trump has been pandering to.

You guys are so quick to offense, you often miss the point of most conversation.

‘and LOW and behold, the “bogle for the glotch” is from democratic underground.’

A swing and a miss.

It’s A Bad Lip Reading production, wholly unaffiliated with DU. [The NFL Bad Lip Reading videos are the most popular, if you’re into sports and humor.]

Nice way you have of twisting things. Cruz did not start the Carson thing but he apologized to Carson. Many times apparently, but Mr Super Christian Carson took his good.old.time saying he had forgiven him. Donald Trump has not taken responsibility for anything. It has always been someone else’s fault. And you Trumpsters suck it up like honey.

‘Trump supporters have done it all along’

Trump supporters have done what, exactly.

Sorry, but HE EQUIVOCATES. If he didn’t, then Cruz would be the HERO OF FREE REPUBLIC. Instead he’s PITIED now...a has-been, a person who really seemed to care about the First Amendment...until it benefited his opponent.

There is a point where it’s better for your side to simply fold, and hope this blows over.

Cruz might have a point that Trump has sometimes acted less than conciliatory when he could well have afforded to be conciliatory,
Neither you or Cruz are arbiters of what is or isn't "conciliatory".

I have been most impressed with the tone of how Cruz handles disruptors on you tube videos of his town halls. He treats them with respect. Quite the opposite of Trumps bully tactics.

Bully tactics work well on a reality show, but on the world stage, they start wars and get people killed in mass quantities. Diplomacy is critical when it comes the chance of Nuclear wars.

I fear the death toll of a Trump Presidency.

***So, when Glenn Beck calls Trump a “racist”, “Nazi”, “Hitler” and his supporters “brownshirts” that’s Cruz’s responsibility. Good to know.***

Don’t forget about Beck wanting to stab Trump. Clearly Cruz is running a very violent, “Germanesque” campaign.

If Ted and little Marco were serious, they would be blasting the organized disruptive agitators at Chicago such as BLM LaRaza, Moveon.org, who staged the chaos through social media and the ISIS supporter who was stopped from storming the stage.
That's exactly right and the one that delivered the most effective message would have been the victor...But TDS got in their way.

Perhaps it’s not about sides, but solutions? There is a problem with your theory, to compromise good, is evil. You may win the battle by out yelling and offending your “opponent”, but it still does not make a turd into tofu.

No problem. I haven’t watched A Bad Lip Reading video of Trump, but I’m sure they’ve done one. You being a Cruz supporter, my guess is that you’d laugh harder at the Trump Bad Lip Reading than at Cruz. It’s probably hilarious...especially for non Trump supporters.
