Millennials.
They may not yet be the present, but theyre certainly the future. These young, uninitiated minds will someday soon become our politicians, doctors, scientists, chefs, television producers, fashion designers, manufacturers, and, one would hope, the new proponents of liberty. But are they ready for it?
Time after time, particularly on college campuses, millennials have proven to be little more than entitled, spoiled, anti-intellectual brats who place far too much emphasis on feelings and nowhere near enough emphasis on critical thinking. To the millennial, words are cause for the creation of safe spaces, alternative ideas must be stifled, and anything they perceive to be a microaggression is enough to send them spiraling into a state of mental distress.
Its time millennials understood these 7 harsh realities of life so we dont end up with a generation of gutless adult babies running the show.
Seriously, nobody who has already graduated college cares about your feelings. That means that when you complain to your boss because your co-worker mis-gendered you, hes probably not going to bend over backwards to bandage your wounds. Given feelings are entirely subjective in nature, its completely unreasonable to demand everyone tip-toe around you to prevent yours from being hurt. The reality is that people will offend you and hurt your feelings, and they wont stop to mop up your tears because they shouldnt have to. Learning to accept criticism, alternative viewpoints, and even outright insults will make you happier in the long run than routinely playing the victim card.
This is a comforting lie parents have started telling their children to boost their morale in school. Unfortunately, millennials are now convinced its true, especially as society has now decided to push this narrative as well. The reality is if youre 17 years old and still cant figure out basic division, youre not going to be a rocket scientist. If youre overweight and unattractive, youre not going to be the quarterbacks prom date. If you lack fine motor skills, youre not going to be a heart surgeon. Its okay to accept that you cannot be whatever you want to be. In fact, once you accept this, youll be able to focus on the things you can be the things you really are talented at.
You heard me. While some millennials taking useless degrees will claim theyre beneficial for teaching or research positions, the reality is that they just put themselves several thousands dollars in debt to learn how to be a professional victim. While youre struggling to make ends meet after graduation because nobody who pays more than minimum wage is interested in your qualifications and youre drowning in student loan debt, be sure to check out the next harsh reality before you start complaining.
Thats right. Even though you work at McDonalds for minimum wage because you got a useless, outrageously expensive college degree, youre still far better off than the vast majority of the planet. Dont believe me? Fly to Uganda and check out the living conditions there. Fly to China, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Iran, Russia, and even European countries like Ukraine and Greece, and youll quickly discover just how well-off you really are. While it may be cool these days to dump on capitalism, its the only reason you arent already worse off.
That includes healthcare, guaranteed income, and somewhere to live. Just because youre here and breathing doesnt mean society owes you anything. Like the billions of people who lived before you, working hard is a better guarantor of wealth and the ability to comfortably take care of yourself than begging society or the government to do it for you. Demanding healthcare be a right, for example, is equivalent to demanding government force the taxpayer to pay for it. While that may seem like a good idea in theory, it only leads to rationing of care when costs become unsustainable, which negatively impacts not just your health, but everyone elses, too.
By contrast, you do have the right to live however you please, so long as its within the confines of the law. If you want to cross-dress, smoke marijuana, drink lots of alcohol, have lots of sex, and, yes, even go to school for gender studies, then by all means, go for it. Government should not be allowed to legislate peoples behavior as long as it doesnt infringe upon someone elses rights, but that doesnt mean society isnt allowed to have an opinion. You dont have the right to demand people keep their opinions about your lifestyle to themselves, especially if youre open and public about it. I have as much of a right to comment on the way you live your life as you do to actually live it. Your feelings are not a protected right, but my speech is.
No matter where you go in life, someone will be there to offend you. Maybe its a joke you overheard on vacation, a spat at the office, or a difference of opinion with someone in line at the grocery store. Inevitably, someone will offend you and your values. If you cannot handle that without losing control of your emotions and reverting back to your safe space away from the harmful words of others, then youre best to just stay put at home. Remember, though: if people in the outside world scare you, people on the internet will downright terrify you. Its probably best to just accept these harsh realities of life and go out into the world prepared to confront them wherever they may be waiting.
They will not realize their mistake until it's too late -- and even then, like true Leftists, will blame others for their failures.
The most important lesson of all, which was already lost several generations ago:
Governments do NOT have the power to repeal the basic laws of economics.
Millennials have this belief that they can act out and if anyone tells them to shut up they believe they have been assaulted and should get physical about it.
Millenials are past the point of being reasoned with. The next generation had best become conservative again, or else America won’t survive.
Socialism has never worked anywhere. Ever.
Nobody really cares about you. They are worried about themselves and, maybe, their family.
Stereotypes are stereotypes because they are largely true.
Your job does not owe you a pat on the back. The paycheck is your pat on the back.
Most of the drugs you get from doctors are unneeded. You’re not ‘depressed’ or ‘ADD’; you are spiritually dead.
I Googled Ben Garrison and he’s a helluva cartoonist.
Outstanding!
A socialism hybrid is more or less what exists in Europe and to a lesser degree in the US. Pure socialism....I agree...would have problems.
I am thankful that Ihave lived in the golden age of the US-post WWII to present.
OUTSTANDING in many ways. I love the first cartoon. With a BLM in the front, Hillary next, and Bernie behind her!
I did enjoy those illustrations - talented artist.
The real world is going to eat them alive.
I’m glad my children were born after America’s heyday; this would all seem so much more disappointing to them if they knew what life was like in 1985.
If you are 18 or older, living at home and still playing video games until the sun comes up there is no light at the end of the tunnel for you.
The “Me” generation gave birth to the “Gimmee” generation.
Every generation has its spoiled people... I know a lot of Millenials who are solid.
Remember, if they are no good and unprepared for life, it is the previous generation that should be held accountable. They raised them.
Trump should make an appeal to this group and let them know that they can be a part of the reform solution.
It is never a good idea to write off a whole generation just because some are idiots.
This kind of intergenerational fighting is something that Odungo just loves.
Not to mention it has been going on since Socrates's time.
Win over the Millenials and we secure our future.
Flame suit on.
Millennials include the few remaining young white people in America; as a country, the US ceased to exist with the election of Obama and the Democrat Congress.
Those young whites had better get accustomed to the fact that white skin has been criminalized, and they are being legally marginalized.
Yes. Criticize their lifestyle and that’s assault. But they’ll make fun of the Duggars and the poor whites who shop at Walmart all day and night.
I love the cartoon.
When I was teaching low level students, they had to do a research paper on a career. About 80% of them chose the careers of doctors and lawyers. It was very hard to try to explain to them that if they are sitting in a remedial English class as seniors, they weren’t going to get into medical or law school. We HAVE to stop telling children that they can be whatever they WANT to be. It’s not about wanting. It’s about abilities.
