Political violence = violence used to achieve political goals.
Tonight we saw organized political activists directed to shut down a political speech. They were encouraged to use violence to help the new narrative that “Trump and his people are fascists.”
Cruz could have said “violence to shut down political speech is abhorrent.” Heck, Cruz agrees with 90% of Trump’s stated policies. His problem, or so he says, is that Trump doesn’t mean what he’s saying. Why then would Cruz want Trump’s speech stopped? Its not the content that’s the problem (I would still argue its abhorrent to want speech you disagree with stopped by violence, but that’s not the point). Cruz used the events of tonight to yet again levy a POLITICAL attack. This time, its the “tone” of Trump’s campaign he’s criticizing. Cruz has, in my opinion, completely lost his mind at this point. At some point he decided to quit doing what was right in order to advance himself. He doesn’t have Trump’s gravitas or persona. But he had honor and trustworthiness. For me, he’s lost both at this point. Its been building for a week or two - but this was crossing the Rubicon.
I just want to see where the protestors were violent. I keep looking at videos and I don’t see them hitting anyone. They are joining hands and locking elbows and I saw a few push back when they were shoved by people in I heart Trump tshirts. I don’t like defending the scum.
Agreed. Tonight, Cruz could have chosen to be a leader. Instead he chose to be a politician.
