Looks like the city is spoiling for a new fight with restaurateurs: A bill being introduced today by Brooklyn city council member Inez Barron would force them to warn customers that foods with too much sugar and carbs are dangerous to people with diabetes.
If its passed, restaurants would be required to hang a poster created by the Department of Health that spells out the risks of excessive sugar and other carbohydrate intake for diabetic and pre-diabetic individuals.
Barron says the city has an obligation to provide consumers with this information just like it has with calorie counts.

Eventually, a lunch menu will be as long as “War and Peace.” You want low carb, you know exactly what to eat and what not to. Eat a salad with a vinegar and oil dressing and a steak.
Us, too. I know I weigh too much; but I’m tired of being
lectured about “carbs” and “exercising” and blah . . blah .
We flew in to NYC several years ago. It was depressing. We
live in the sticks & it was culture shock. Buildings piled
on top of each other, seafood restaurants pushing shellfish
& me getting headaches from shellfish & totally put off by
sushi, walking ourselves almost to death everywhere we went.
When we landed back home; we vowed NO MORE. I’m pretty sure
somebody also stole my new warm stylish hat. Lots of
turbulence on the flight home. Son chose that time to
break it to us that he was “gay”. I don’t fit in to that
stuff. :o( I also do not march in “pride” parades.
Remember Baywatch?
Now on LA County public beaches it’s a $1000 fine to throw a football or Frisbee.
“Dangerous”.
Whoops! That’s $100, not $1,000.
I found a bunch of articles that say that it is indeed $1000. I was about to ask you what the justification for the law might be (besides raising revenue).
I’m sorry, YOU ARE CORRECT, the fine on LA County beaches for throwing a frisbee or football is indeed $1,000, and not $100.
Just amazing.
I like the ones with the calorie counts, this way I know what to buy to get most calories for my buck.
This would require endless “studies”, ongoing Council meetings, Union Pay and before the first sign is produced, these jackasses are retired collecting FAT pensions and benefits. The NY way!
Some warnings are needed, like your food is cooked on the same grill as sea food, we use soy products, this product contains milk....for those of us not allowed or allergic to those products. And if the food used was USA GROWN.
Ditto applies to drugs.
