If they found the shelves stripped of the cheap Chinese stuff that breaks because it's made of inferior materials, maybe within a short time the shelves would be filled with US-made merchandise. I had to buy four can openers at Walmart before I could finally find a US made opener that actually worked. The others—and they weren't cheap, merely bent instead of opening. Ditto for the comforters made with inferior thread that almost dissolves, and the shower shelving that rusts out in less than 6 months, even though it's rust proof. There is an answer somewhere between putting up trade barriers and simply opening up our markets to foreign government subsidized, inferior goods.
