I never sought to be part of the story.
-snip-
Addressing the gathered reporters and the nation at large, Trump was in an especially jovial mood Tuesday night. The networks just declared he had won the Mississippi Republican primary and, during his speech, that he won Michigan Republican primary as well.
I wasnt called upon to ask a question during the televised press conference, but afterwards Trump wandered around, stopping at every reporter to take their questions. When he approached me, I asked him about his view on an aspect of affirmative action.
Trump acknowledged the question, but before he could answer I was jolted backwards. Someone had grabbed me tightly by the arm and yanked me down. I almost fell to the ground, but was able to maintain my balance. Nonetheless, I was shaken.
The Washington Posts Ben Terris immediately remarked that it was Trumps campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, who aggressively tried to pull me to the ground. I quickly turned around and saw Lewandowski and Trump exiting the building together. No apology. No explanation for why he did this.
Even if Trump was done taking questions, Lewandowski would be out of line. Campaign managers arent supposed to try to forcefully throw reporters to the ground, no matter the circumstance. But what made this especially jarring is that there was no hint Trump was done taking questions. No one was pushing him to get away. He seemed to have been happily answering queries from my fellow reporters just a moment before.
Many people have been asking me on Twitter and in emails what exactly happened Tuesday night. I hope this article answers those questions and I can get back to reporting the news, not being a part of it.

Witnesses?
Big tough guy picking on a little girl. File charges, Michelle.
Her quote is different...”I almost lost my balance”...and she says nothing about someone grabbing her.
No doubt this will be brought up at the debate tonight. Hope Trump has a good comeback.
The #NeverTrump movement is going nuts with this.
I’m glad the compost reporter was there to witness it and then helpfully share that info with Michelle. I mean, why would he lie? /s
So, instead of suing the guy, she pens an op-ed?
Breitbart has been pretty consistently pro-Trump, so this must have really made them angry.
And now Trump supporters shrug it off because she’s either lying or deserved it...good times.
Maybe she can explain where the assault took place.

Thank you!
Shapiro has been anti Trump since the beginning.
His title is Editor AT LARGE, meaning he’s a freelancer. He does not speak for Breitbart.
More on the story here:
Trying to work your way close to a leading presidential contender at these things is a contact sport. Try waltzing up to Hillary to ask her a question and see what happens.
Trump has secret service protection at this point..this whole story sounds fishy to me.
Trying to push you way close to any leading candidate is going to get you stopped... one way or the other.
Play the “audio” of the incident backwards and you hear, “the walrus is Paul”
