Republican presidential candidate Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) stated, I believe we need to champion every able-bodied adult ought to be working, or actively looking for a job, and the entire purpose, every one of the welfare programs, even disability programs in a town hall broadcast on Wednesdays The Kelly File on the Fox News Channel.

"Cruz: Champion "Every Able-Bodied Adult" Working Or Looking,"Entire Purpose" Of Welfare Programs,Even Disability"
I’m just a low-information, un-engaged schlub—I know Cruz isn’t talking about me.
Cruz said, I believe we need to champion every able-bodied adult ought to be working, or actively looking for a job, and the entire purpose, every one of the welfare programs, even disability programs, people with disabilities are still capable, in many, many cases, of doing meaningful work, maybe not heavy manual labor.
Wow, talk about tone-deaf. This sounds like a Jeb Bush “people aren’t working enough” quote.
MAYBE the disabled shouldn’t do heavy manual labor? What the hell?
I’m sure there are people out there that are playing fast and loose with disability benefits to the point of abuse, but there are way better ways to express your desires for full employment to suggest that crippled people should be unloading delivery trucks if they can physically manage it.
How many millions of jobs are presently held by illegals?Americans can’t find work because of this.
Do you have a problem with these remarks? They are more aspirational than a hard and fast cutoff of benefits likely to shock the system
I do not think that is what he said. He is suggesting that the rest of us should not be doing all of the supporting of the unemployed and those who can work. I don’t know the statistics, but IIRC, the disability claims on SSDI under 0bama’s regime have skyrocketed. In the past, people who could work, were expected to try to work. That does not seem to be the case any longer, and then the burden of support falls to the taxpayers.
Cruz is exactly right. It seems some of the “low informed” are exposing themselves.
I do not think that is what he said.
He said what he said and it came out poorly. He said MAYBE disabled people shouldn’t be doing heavy manual labor. That was really dumb.
Cruz just wrote off the low-information, un-engaged Trump voters who are kicking his ass. He’s butt-hurt over losing his southern strategy to Trump. That’s too bad Mr Harvard grad.
In the Reagan era it was OK and justifiable to say this kind of thing - today, in the Goldman Sachs era, it is imperative not to come off like you are blaming the victims while banksters loot the system. So Cruz is being tone deaf, here.
First step is to start bringing jobs back from China and Mexico. Now what candidate said that first? Oh, yeah! GO TRUMP!
No wonder Hillary can’t wait to run against Cruz...
Well Ted if so many of our jobs weren’t taken by illegal immigrants, affirmative action, and sent overseas we’d be working. In addition Obama’s economic and regulatory policies have destroyed millions of jobs with Obamacare, the EPA, higher minimum wages proposed by groups that are tied to him or Soros and even caused most of us to take lower pay or less hours, that is if we’re not being laid off or fired. So F off to that statement. We need to start questiong why out of touch politicians with $175K a year jobs theses to make over a million a year.
That’s a good start.
I’d go even further: you get welfare, you do not vote.

Narcissistic much? You’re right he’s not. Cruz is appealing to an undecided demographic, not people who have already decided to vote for Trump. It’s politics, it’s not meant to be personal and it’s not all about you.
There are a lot of people abusing disability. I thought hard work, and advocating the virtue thereof, was a conservative principal. It used to be, until Drumpf conned a bunch of low-info nationalists. Now only things he says, or they imagine he says, makes any sense.
That’s right—Protect your boy at all costs.
Contempt for others certainly characterizes you establishment types in both parties.
NOPE to Cruz, now, tomorrow, forever!!! I’m a college graduate, own my own business, but I’m a lowly uneducated informed voter...
Guess what ‘jackass’ shove your campaign up Kneel Bush, Snarly Carly, and Glenn Beck’s butt and see how far you get now!!!
