... But now, after saying that they are deploying their nuclear warheads for quick use, and posting the image above, it may be time to reevaluate the North Koreans nuclear capabilities.
That big metallic soccer ball of doom that you see in front of the Young General appears to be a compact nuclear implosion device, which is a more complicated alternative than the much more cumbersome gun assembly style nuclear devices, and larger implosion devices, that were thought to have been the limit of North Koreas technical know-how.

If NK nukes someone the world can thank Jimuuuuh Caaahta and if Iran nukes someone the world can thank Lord Foul and Kerryassinstein.
“Most capable” and “never been tested?” Wouldn’t want a front row seat for the big launch.
They finally found a use for all those “AOL” compact-disc received in the post over the years.
The Chinese have and that’s who directs the norks nuke program.
Because I know more than a little about nukes. Had a roommate who now designs them. We talked a lot. His goal: design a gigaton or teraton (three stage) nuke to blow a city or planet killing asteroid out of the sky.
Some of his designs were terrifying. And that was 30 years ago.
I also have a couple degrees in engineering/physics.
But those aren’t required. It’s easy to spot the manufacturing defects just on the surface of the mockup that show nowhere near the precision required for a functional compact nuke.
For example: Look at the welds on the “disk” second from the center at about the 7 o’clock position...
The image is very bright (overexposed) and while I know a bit about how to make a good weld - or I did years ago - I have no idea what a weld should look like on such a thing.
But thanks, Tyler R. does not have any real analysis on the thing - he is usually really thorough or even the commenters sometimes spot things but when I read it this AM, no one seemed to notice anything. (The article on Foxtrot Alpha now has 450 or so comments).
Welcome.
Did not mean to be snarky. Probably should not have posted my comments at all. Oh well, that’s water under the bridge...
It’s a clock, a little boy made it, send it to 0bama and he’ll invite him to the great white hut.
If North Korea nuked the U.S. under Obama, he would probably apologize to WoFat and offer to replace the Plutonium they used.
An implosion-design plutonium device, yield ~21kt
Did not take what you said as ‘snarky,’ I was perhaps to forthright, in any case - thanks for your insights.
PS, do not ever be reluctant to speak your mind - silence helps no man.
0bama has already said we could ‘absorb’ a hit. So you are correct.
