A new poll by Rasmussen Reports conducted on March 6 and 7 shows that if Donald Trump is denied the GOP nomination for presidential candidate, he could run as a third-party candidate with much of his base intact.
Among Republican voters, 36% say they are "likely" to vote for Trump if he runs as a third-party presidential candidate – and 24% of all GOP voters are "very likely" to give Trump their vote if he chooses a third-party route.
The survey results add further support to the view that the anti-Trump scorched earth policy underway by the GOP establishment and its allies in the conservative media will backfire on two fronts: (1) it will guarantee a Hillary Clinton victory in the general election, and (2) a substantial portion of the GOP base will be lost indefinitely for future elections after frustrated voters realize that their participation in the primary process was so vehemently fought against by an entrenched Republican bureaucracy and suite of media pundits so insensitive to the base's concerns over the country's direction.

Not nearly as bad for Hillary once Bernie bolts to 3rd party.
So much for “plan B”, huh Priebus?
CC
I’ve wondered about that - what’s Bernie got to lose by trying it?
Which is what the GOPe want, to retain power, even as the minority parties of the House and Senate.
Yes. Yes, he would.
Local radio show host said this morning if the GOPe try to deny Trump or pulls so fast ones folks should write in TRUMP...for every race...make all TRUMP LOL. It would work if enough did it.
The only caveat for this is that the GOP doesn’t care if Hillary wins. They would rather retain control of the party so it’s no downside (to them) to force Trump to run 3rd party.
Trump has brought in more voters to one party in history, (look it up for yourself) and he is starting to unite the American People who are for saving America, the others are globalists and don't count...
And think about this....’IF cruz wins the oval office and brings jeb bush as his v.p. , remember what happened to Reagan and poppy bush was v.p.====same thing happening again...think about it...it can happen....
Losing the conservative base and losing the election to Hillary is fine with the GOP establishment, as long as Trump is beaten. The question is whether Trump can take enough of the pub base and gather enough Reagan dems to pull off a large enough win that can’t be snatched by voter fraud. These electronic voting machines can pretty much give one any margin of victory that is desired, within reason.
I will vote for whom ever has the best chance of beating Hillary!!!
Why should he? They’ve been suggesting he do this from the beginning because they want this. He doesn’t. He doesn’t need to, either.
That’d be hilarious, he could end up mayor of 7 towns, governor of 2 states, have a council seat in 37 different cities, dog catcher and a DA for a few off the beaten path towns....
“I will vote for whom ever has the best chance of beating Hillary!!!”
No more “Lesser of two evils” for me, never again...If Trump wins the most delegates and he is denied the nomination, in protest, I will vote for Hillary!!!
The rabid Trump supporters joining forces with the rabid Sanders supporters would be unstoppable!
And, let's not forget, Trump was unable to tell the difference between his policy positions and those of Sanders.
First, let's see if Trump can get the number of delegates to actually win the nomination...
The key word here is DENIED...which implies he won enough delegates and the convention was rigged to deny him...
That's not going to happen...
The GOPe are a bunch of gutless invertebrate slugs, but they aren't stupid...
Why is “Trump going 3rd party” always the question? He’s winning all over the place and is by far the most likely person to be the Republican nomination. The better question is “Why are the GOP plotting run someone else as 3rd party?”
Trump is a Republican. It’s his party too. If he plays by their rules and wins and the GOPe blow up the party by running someone 3rd party, that destruction is on THEIR heads.
‘Ive wondered about that - whats Bernie got to lose by trying it?”
Nothing. A true believer will see it honorable way to make his point. Think Ralph Nader, who took just enough votes away in 2000 then in 2004 to hand it to W.
Hillary will have a tough time with Bernie.
“He signed a pledge and has said in his rallies,’
He also has waffled so much on much of what he said he could be a short order cook for the Waffle House.
If Trump goes into the convention with the majority of delegates and is denied the nomination, he will run 3rd party and there ain’t no way any Repub is going to beat Hillary if that happens.
