No...there is no incipient ditinction between the terms, except for current semantics...a contested convention opens the door to the Romney/Ryan ticket as easily as a brokered does, because they are the same things...
the question revolves around what level of manipulation becomes necessary to resolve the nomination, not what term is used to describe that manipulation...
