Despite holding a wide lead among Republican New York voters in the race for the GOP nomination, Donald Trump would get crushed in a hypothetical general election matchup with Hillary Clinton in the state, a new poll released Monday shows.
Clinton would beat the outspoken real estate magnate in the Empire State 57% to 34%, the latest Siena Research Institute poll found.
In such a matchup, registered Democrats overwhelmingly support the former secretary of state (80% to 15%), and registered Republicans overwhelmingly support the Trump (71%, to 19%), while independent voters lean toward Clinton (45% to 38%), according to the poll.
The former secretary of state would also beat Marco Rubio (56% to 35%), Ted Cruz (58% to 33%) and John Kasich (49% to 42%), who would give Clinton her best competition, the poll of 800 registered New York voters showed.
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders also handily beat all of the Republican challengers, including Trump, in hypothetical general election matchups in the state, the poll found.
"Clinton leads Trump 57-34, almost identical to Sanders' 57-33 lead over Trump," pollster Steve Greenberg said in a statement. "Kasich has made the most headway in general election matchups against the Democrats. Sanders leads Kasich by 19 points, down from 30 points last month, and he comes within seven points of Clinton, 49-42."

These anti-Trump polls being pushed by the MSM and GOPe are just a pack of lies.
Do not believe them.
************
I don’t!
Being a loser is not a mark of pride
Only a loser would say such a thing
To win, you have to actually win
That is what Trump is doing
One has to wonder how much money the paper and editor and writers are taking from those who support Hillary, the moslem jihad against christ and the new world order of unelected bureaucrats. Liberalism is a team sport. Score one for the team and you go up the ladder of success.
Great comeback. Maybe save that one for the “Cruz will win Michigan” thread. Right now we’re on Trump winning NY.
You like Hb-1s now too I take it? Your boy does or maybe he’s just so confused about where he stands he doesn’t know the difference between that and the STEM program.
Smartest businessman alive he is.
“Trumpers have convinced themselves a 50 state landslide win awaits them and that there is no way Trump can ever ever lose.
The polling says otherwise”
Who cares what they think?
Why dont you inform us as to what States you expect Cruz to win that went Obama twice.
Not in my county she wouldn’t.
If nominated Trump is going to peel off Democrat votes in the general election like never seen before. Especially union members and blacks.
If wishes were horses then beggars would ride.
I lived my first forty+ years in New York State but have left it to move to a Bible belt state for just this reason.
NYS was already “post-Christian” when I was a child. I never knew anyone whose faith guided their life (with the exception of a Jehovah’s Witness and a few people I was distantly acquainted with that were mocked for being “holy rollers”) until I came to read the Bible and sought out Bible-believing churches.
I see in New York State and other areas of the country, and world, some factors that decide what the dominant beliefs will be. When we’re talking areas that are largely made up of professing Christians/cultural Christians, the dominant beliefs and worldview of any area can largely be determined by how many evangelical Christians, liberal mainline Protestants, and Catholics make up that area. New York State is heavily Catholic, followed by mainline Protestant.
Trump would be weaker than Rick Lazio?
If it takes a walking dead plutocrat to exorcise the Clintons - he has my vote.
Ouch Donald...you better put some ice on that!
I have two words for you.....George Pataki (3 times).
Says a LOT about New York nonexistent values.
LMAO!
Unfortunately NY wins using that indicator.
You are exactly right that Reagan did not win in 1980 as a conservative. People thought of conservatism as a fringe ideology then.
And that’s the huge blindspot in today’s election cycle. The electorate ‘leans’ conservative in ideology but they don’t adhere to it because they were kids when Reagan left office and the so-called conservatives that followed Reagan soiled the GOP brand so bad that ‘conservatism’ has been tainted.
Ronald Reagan won in 1980 not as a conservative but as a hardliner against terrorists and the Soviets, and also because of the awful shameful catastrophe that Jimmy Carter had allowed to occur in the economy. It wasn’t until well into 1983 that the American public became enamored with RR because he was witty, classy, eloquent and consistent. Then everyone started touting conservatism as the new wave in politics.
When the electorate is asked questions with multiple choices, they will often select choices that are conservative leaning. But they are not in general proud conservatives because as adults they never saw Reagan, they saw Dole, Romney, Boehner, Ryan, McConnell, and many local false conservatives who they knew to be nothing more than opportunists, etc. For example, Haley Barbour, Thad Cochran and so many others were dixie democrats that found it convenient to switch partied because that’s where the game was going.
The electorate was 24% registered Independent in 2010. Today they are 42%. That is off-the-charts in shifting registrations. And most of the 42% lean conservative which is why the GOP benefitted in 2014. But today those Independents are distrusting of the GOP, but they trust Donald Trump. This is why Donald leads Ted.
+1
I have asked that question 50 times since July, and have never gotten a responsive answer.
Normal answers are:
1) You hate America
2) You hate God, or Jesus
3) You must be a homo.
Unless other sources also report it, it would not believe anything the NY Daily News reports. That paper has zero credibility - has become a laughing stock.
FR is the only place I've seen where the common belief is that homosexuality is < 2% of the population yet so many are thought to be homo.
