I live in Maine, and have no clue how or why Cruz was so popular here.
something stinks about Maine. I've lived in New England my whole life, makes no sense that Trump blows out MA & NH but loses bad in Maine.

Besides, the vote total was small (though Cruz got the delegates anyway).

Less than 20,000 people voted in the Maine Caucus - to me that's ridiculous. Why didn't they have a proper primary so the people could voice their support for Trump?

What doesn't make sense to me is that Cruz did well. I can understand Trump doing so-so, for various reasons, but not Cruz bettering him.
Maine is flaky, politically.

I live in Maine.
The dems had 525 caucus sites, the GOP only 22. Some people had to drive a long way to their caucus site.
Most people in Maine are pretty much fed up and want to go back to a primary, like they had in 1996 and 2000.
Bills have been introduced in the Maine Senate to go back to a primary, and both democrats and republicans are for the change back to a primary.
Gov. Paul LePage also supports a return to a primary.
Four years from now, Maine will have a primary once again.
