and no, I don't believe Mexico will pay for it. The American buyers of goods and services will pay for it.
That's how tariffs work.
It’s not just tariffs. It’s the entire trade deficit. Mexico is leeching utility from us and has been for a long time.
And Trump has said that if they want that to continue, then they’d better pony up some dough. Otherwise... very nice economy they have there. Shame if something were to happen to it.
Reduced in power as we are, the US can still economically crush Mexico without even trying hard.
My friends would be happy to pay tariffs if they can get a job in manufacturing paying $40-60 /hour instead of service jobs at $15/hr and be forced to buy cheap stuff at Walmart.
Seems China just got hit with a major complaint by the Commerce Dept for dumping cold steel! Got a good suggestion?
He's not proposing to pay for it by tariff, but by controlling the monies they send back to Mexico, correcting our bad trade deal with Mexico, and by reducing illegals' intolerable burdens on our healthcare, educational and justice systems.
The tariff thing is to keep American companies from relocating to Mexico. He only has to do it to one or two companies before the rest of them stop going overseas.
All I can do is go with what his positions are today, which many are Constitutionally conservative, then hope and pray he doesn't go back on his word like most politicians do. I can only hope and pray he is as fed up as I am with how our country has been stolen by this DC establishment cabal.
The thing he does have going for him is he is NOT a career politician and a true outsider at this point. That's why the whole DC establishment fears him. We're in a battle of good vs. evil but in these things have been nuanced so bad, many don't understand if they are following good or evil these days. Our government is so corrupt they are going to do anything to try to prevent an outsider from coming in that could potentially expose all their corruption. That good vs. evil battle in part comes down to statism vs. freedom for our country. I will always come down on the side of freedom and liberty.
That being said, statism is so ingrained in our culture and government that short of an all out civil war against our government establishment, I do believe this may be our last hope, to put in a true outsider, to help us clean up this mess. While I would have loved to include Cruz as a true outsider, with all his recent actions of getting in bed with the establishment, I no longer consider him that.
Trump is the only non-career politician and true outsider and to me, worth the risk. Of course with risk, their is reward or failure. If he fails, a civil war was almost inevitable anyways if we truly value our freedoms that continue to be squashed by this whole DC establishment.
