GETTYSBURG, PA (WHTM/CNN) - Tensions ran high during a Confederate flag rally in Pennsylvania this weekend.

A Southern heritage group held what it calls Confederate Flag Day in Gettysburg, PA, but there were plenty of vocal opponents to the event.

The flag has 13 stars, three stripes and two very different meanings.

The refrain is familiar. Supporters such Mark Landree, executive director of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, says it's about history. Opponents like Christina Hansen only see hate.

Another great General of the war. And, perhaps the true Genius. On either side was Nathan, Bedford Forrest.

Another thing about Jackson was he treated hos troops very harshly and indifferently when not in battle, especially in the countless forced marches he demanded. The troops in his corp used to complain that getting to the battle was worse than the actual battle itself.

It’s interesting in seven days. Camping he disobeyed direct orders, from General Lee that proved to be very costly.

That turned him into a mobility fanatic. His corp became know as the Foot Cavalry to live down the one mistake that old man Lee derided him for.

Suppose the South had won The Civil War. Would they have freed the slaves? And as far as The Stars And Bars are concerned it is a historic memento the same as the swastika. To deny this would be to say there were no Nazis and no WW2 or an American Civil War and a Confederacy.. But the flag this nation has defended in all it’s wars and the one our men and women serve under is The Stars And Stripes.

Let me ask you Jamacusa, you’re hero. Lincoln, issues the decree in 1863. Giving the slaves in the South there freedom. But allows Western Virginia, aka West Virginia, to enter the Union as Slave state? Little weird for a big shot. Who’s against slavery, and all

The south was fighting for independence, not for slavery in and of itself.

And Lincoln was not fighting to abolish slavery but to keep the union intact at any cost, even if it meant keeping slavery.

First of all Lincoln is not my ‘’hero’, my father is. Secondly the North didn't go to war to free the slaves, it went to war to preserve the Union and won. The South went to war to preserve slavery and lost everything. That's how it worked out. If you were alive in 1861 I know who's side you and that troglodyte ''central va'' would have been on. You talk about ''heritage''. Fine. Just remember your ''heritage'' was about the right of one human being to own another. Now deny that, if you can.
