Republican Leaders Starting to See Ted Cruz as Best Anti-Trump Alternative
Breitbart ^ | 3/6/2016 | BREITBART NEWS

*snip*

The wary interest in Cruz from more mainstream Republicans is the latest unexpected twist in a GOP race where talk of a contested convention or third-party candidate is becoming commonplace.

“If Ted’s the alternative to Trump, he’s at least a Republican and conservative,” South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said. While Graham made sure to note that it’s “not like I prefer Ted Cruz,” he encouraged Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich to “decide among themselves” whether they can be a realistic alternative to Trump.

Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, said Cruz is indeed “emerging” as the chief anti-Trump candidate.

“I think a lot of people were surprised by how well Ted Cruz did,” said Romney, who has thrust himself back into the political discussion with a searing takedown of Trump in a speech last week.

Romney has stepped back into the spotlight at a moment of crisis and chaos for the Republican Party. Leaders in Washington who assumed hard-liners such as Cruz represented a minority view have been left wondering if they’re the ones out of step with voters.

For months, GOP elites have lumped Trump and Cruz together, arguing that neither could win in November’s general election. Cruz is an uncompromising conservative who has publicly criticized party leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), for what he sees as a pattern of giving in too easily to President Barack Obama.

Cruz is done and we all know it , even a hard core Cruz voters should know it by now.
The problem is that does Cruz know it and does he know he is being used by the establishment to get their convention and Romney.
I honestly don’t think he does.
He;s thinking that he hates Trump and it is all about him that he has lost his sense of reality.

Think Cruz will embrace the establishment? Of course he will.

“Well, as I see it, Trump and Cruz together can make the establishment go cry in the corner for mommy if Trump will pick Cruz to be his running mate and Cruz gives Trump his delegates at the convention. Game. Set. Match.”

Agreed.

Cruz is just being used by the GOPe, knowingly or unknowingly. They will stab him in the back, just as soon as he finishes his task of getting rid of Trump as potential GOP nominee. Sad.

Nope. Cruz does their dirty work. GOP gets their convention and then Cruz will wonder why they have turned on him and Cruz voters will be shocked.

It really is not that hard to foresee so I don’t know why there are a few still not understanding this.

Republican Leaders See Ted Cruz as Best Anti-Trump Alternative

This coming from the overlords of corruption, decline and deception in D.C.

What a surprise.

“Sure pick a guy who won 2 actual primaries and a bunch of little attended caucus’. Great plan GOPe. You know this crap will just make trump stronger. His speech he’s giving right now is awesome.”

The majority of the votes this nominating cycle are going to Trump, then Cruz. What would be the point on picking Kacish or Rubio? From the looks of it, Cruz is beating both of them.

It’s too late for the GOPe to align behind Cruz. And even if they did, I doubt Cruz would welcome the opportunity, especially after what they did to him in the Senate. So let’s say they back Cruz and miraculously they dispatch Trump. Does anyone doubt that as soon as that happens they file to make Cruz ineligible based on citizenship?

This is pure media hyperbole to keep the story alive. I like Cruz, but I am also a realist. Trump will be the nominee, Cruz will eventually back Trump, Rubio and Kacish will take their money and go back to whatever it was they were doing.

I think they will replace Cruz with Jeb! at the last minute.

Then they will change the rules so a Trump can never happen again.

Why don't these jackasses shut up and let the party voters decide?

If they rig the nomination to give it to their favorite instead of the voters' favorite, then the inevitable result (President Hillary Clinton) will be on their pointy little heads.

I dispise Lindsay Graham as much as anyone. But my point is that from Cruz’s perspective RINO endorsements will bring in moderate republican voters, and some seem to think thats some sort of betrayal. What should he do - reject these endorsements and tell the voters that may be so influenced to take their votes elsewhere? I thought we wanted to drag the party to the right.

Funny thing. Trump seems to suffer under caucus rules, which are coincidentally much easier to manipulate.

Graham will try and use Cruz to get to a brokered convention and then he and the rest of the GOPe will try and deny the nomination to Cruz at that point if they get there.

Cruz isn’t stupid. He knows that’s the GOP plan. He’s just hoping to be the bone thrown to the base as a token “conservative” VP. Like Ryan last time, doh!

Career politician Cruz played TEA Party to advance his career and he’d throw the grass roots under the GOPe train and jump aboard their ticket in a NY minute. Ryan/Cruz looks like the GOP plan to me.

I don’t know it makes me uneasy that the establishment has picked Cruz.

I wish Cruz and Trump would get together and sort it out, but both won’t let their ego’s go.

“Cruz needs to understand that he is being used and once he has done their dirty work they will stab him in the back.”

Oh, I think Cruz realizes what the GOPe are up to. Cruz hates the GOPe as much as the GOPe hate him. Cruz has no illusions about the GOPe; after all, the Gope have been badmouthing him for several years.

So do I.

I assume that the establishment has weighed both Trump and Cruz and have decided its better to back a fellow politician over the real estate mogul.

And I do not use either label derogatorily, its just reality.

Cruz is the uncompromising candidate, while Trump is the Great Compromiser.

Cruz is the true conservative with an unblemished record of standing up for us.

Trump has so many skeletons in his closet, it looks like a Halloween convention ... and now some of them are finally staggering out.

Trump followers here are in sad denial. I pray they wake up.

Every attack on Trump seems to fortify them to defend The Don. They refuse to look at the merits of the attack or confront them.

The constant anti-Cruz hate fest for years has done its job.

What do ya mean? Just a couple years ago most never heard of Raphael Ted Cruz. He was just another Gopher working for the Bush dynasty.
