Money Pours in as Move to Stop Donald Trump Expands
New York Times ^ | March 6, 2016 | MATT FLEGENHEIMER and MAGGIE HABERMAN

Republicans hoping to halt Donald J. Trump’s march to their party’s presidential nomination emerged from the weekend’s voting contests newly emboldened by Mr. Trump’s uneven electoral performance and by some nascent signs that he may be peaking with voters.

Outside groups are moving to deploy more than $10 million in new attack ads across Florida and millions more in Illinois, casting Mr. Trump as a liberal, a huckster and a draft dodger. Mr. Trump’s reed-thin organization appears to be catching up with him, suggesting he could be at a disadvantage if he is forced into a protracted slog for delegates.

It's apparent that the establishment want Trump out and Cruz to be the nominee.

They will then thwart and compromise Cruz as they have done in the Senate the past 3 years.

With Cruz as the nominee they have a controllable, addressable situation.

With Trump as the nominee it would mean they have a much more difficult uncontrollable runaway train scenario to deal with.

“If Cruz gets the nomination, Hillary will be President. It’s pretty damned obvious”

Funny, not so obvious to a lot of us.

Or,

3. Ted Cruz is going to be our next president, and will tear up the GOP’s little establishment playpen!

“That being said, I don’t think any rise in the Cruz numbers are actually due to the candidate and if Trump can step up his connection with voters, odds favor victory. “

I agree with you. As is being said, many voters decide last minute or in the last few days before voting in the caucus/primaries - and when they turn on the news there is all this HORRIBLE stuff on Trump, virtually nothing on Cruz. Trump needs to tighten his message up, and when it comes to the “gotcha” questions, he needs to have his reply and deliver it in a clear focused manner. I think he needs to do a little less of the “whistle stop” type rally’s and do a few more town hall style events.

Cruz/Rubio - very little is said about them. In part because they use the same speech at every rally. It’s BORING and predictable and very, very safe for them. And you don’t see awful photos of them out there - no one is really bashing Rubio for the vulgarity he engaged in, and the worst photo the press releases of him was his high heeled boots photo.

Trump is doing well on his OWN MERIT, but the others have the GOPe behind them and have played this game for years. It’s time for Trump to take a page from that book - he needs to become somewhat more focused in his speaking at events, we need to see more of the fellow we see at the podium after the votes are tallied.

Well, none of the other candidates are going to win in a General Election!

I think Trump will get many Democrat voters who dislike Hillary and are for a strong nationalism.

I’m sure all the Neo-Con-Artists are opening their Golden Sacks. They hate Trump because he doesn’t have to come on bended knee to beg for their money. He doesn’t hire them as his “advisors” or “strategists”. He attacks their golden idol, the media. They are deathly afraid that if he is president, he just may not listen to them when they inevitably start howling for another war in the Middle East.

They fear that their power under a Trump administration may be much diminished.

Hillary Clinton is the Neo-Con-Artists toady on the other side. She successfully pounded their drum for war in Libya, so they don’t care if she wins, and they would prefer their known toady to an unknown Trump.

Few people realize that the Neo-Con-Artists are actually hardcore democrats. The Neo-Con-Artists support everything that conservatives say they are against: gun control, open borders, gay marriage, abortion, affirmative action, political correctness. The Neo-Con-Artists only gravitated to the republican party after the democrat party started becoming a peace at any price party, and managed to convince the gullible that they were the New Conservatives, when they were anything but, only warmongers.

“Ted Cruz is secretly reaching out to Lindsey Graham.”

I guess when you go by the name “detective,” everything is clandestine.

To be fair, I think he’s always been called a liberal or not a true conservative. And he’s still being called a racist, which he probably isn’t one of those.

Trump will always be called “not a conservative”, because he never was, and never will be, a conservative.

Even if you believe everything he tells you today, he’s not close to being a real conservative. He just happens to say a few things that agree with small parts of the conservative agenda.

Of course, the mistake you would make would be to believe him, but his own statements show how unconservative he is.

Why doesn’t the GOPe/RNC just come out and say that they want hillary in the WH? Because that is what they are telling the voters with their actions.

If the GOP put nearly as much effort into taking down obama in 2012, and Trump in 2016, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion right now.

Trump just needs to pivot a bit...

“The left hate me, the right hate me. Why? Because I will fight for you and for America, and they both hate that”

He’s already delivered this a little bit in the “you wouldn’t believe how much money they are spending against me” line... but guarantee, that message will come out front and center very soon from him rather than just an offhanded comment.

When it does, I would expect Trump to rebound from all the focused negative ads.

He’s trolling so many people its unbelievable.. .they are playing right to him.

“Trump will always be called “not a conservative”, because he never was, and never will be, a conservative.”

The problem is not whether or not Trump is a true conservative.

The problem is that only the MSM and the Washington establishment think they are allowed to say what a true conservative is.

Rubio is supposedly a true conservative as are Jeb, Mitch McConnell, Romney, McCain, Lindsey Graham, Boehner and everyone else in the Washington establishment.

Outsiders are not allowed to be true conservatives.

When the MSM calls someone a true conservative then something is probably wrong.
