Even if they claim to be Christians, they can always lie.

No problem, have 'em help butcher for the annual pig feed, and make sure they don't go home hungry.

Cruz is a deep-cover establishment, open-borders, one-worlder.

Deep cover my butt, I knew it the second he voted for closure on TPA.

Yep, that cut is bad, but it’s a cut. Where is the rest of what he said?

“It is nothing less than lunacy,” Cruz said on Saturday, citing security concerns. “It makes no sense whatsoever for us to be bringing in refugees who our intelligence cannot determine if they are terrorists here to kill us or not. Those who are fleeing persecution should be resettled in the Middle East in majority Muslim countries.”

Just like the Trumpsters say about Trump. He has changed his ideas on things. I would say Cruz can also.

I don't think he has. Remember when Trump came out and said he wanted to stop all muslims refuges coming into the country, cruz immediatly came out in response and said "That is not my policy".

Even if they claim to be Christians, they can always lie. We saw with the Christian Somalis that they were into gang rape and child porn.

There are lots of Somalis in Minnesota. I live there.

I'd like to know more details.

Good catch.

Interviewed in February 2014, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz declared that Syrian refugees should be permitted into the United States and argued that this could be done without jeopardizing national security.

Hopefully Cruz has reconsidered his position on this. Too many of these rich politicians are insulated from the consequences of the policies they advocate - they live in exclusive neighborhoods that will never see any Muslim refugees, while the middle-class people whose views they ignore will have to bear the cost - financial and cultural. I like Cruz and will vote for him if he is nominated - he's a quantum improvement over the men the GOP nominated in 2008 and 2012, but he needs to be clear about his opposition to Syrian refugees coming to the US.

Weren't the Syrian Christians being forced out or killed in early 2014, and Obama didn't want to let them in? Or am I not remembering correctly?

That's what I'm recalling, but I'd really like to see all of the interview to understand the context of the statement. Else this smells like a hatchet job, but at this point I can't make any conclusions.

No. If he believes this then he is not fit to run the country. Just say no.

Was Trump holding public office at the time ? Didn’t think so.

My family doctor is a young Syrian woman, and a good doctor.
We can always use good people. It was always that way until Ted Kennedy and 1965.

But criminals and deadheads? Get rid of ‘em. Cruz and Trump are on the same page.

The problem is that we’ve heard democrats use the word “immigrants” in so libertine a way that it has lost its meaning and has made us angry.

If he believes this then he is not fit to run the country.

Typically, the Trump crew falls for a carefully and heavily edited interview attacking Cruz for statements completely lacking context. The comments are from an interview taken in February 2014. This is an excerpt from a Time Magazine article written at about that time.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has offered particularly scathing criticism for Obama's proposal. Cruz has proposed a religious test for Syrian refugees, plans to offer a bill to bar the nation's Muslims from entering and challenged Obama to "come back and insult me to my face" after the President blasted Republican adversaries during his trip to the Philippines.

This one is from Jan. 2014:

Texas Senator Ted Cruz, the top Republican on the subcommittee, said he was particularly concerned about the plight of Christian refugees and said they should be considered as Washington decides how to deal with the demand for more visas. Both of these reports are contemporaneous with the interview at the top of the thread. The interview is edited in such a way that it looks like Cruz was talking about ALL Syrian refugees. Yet from the background pieces at the time, it looks like he had special concern for Syrian Christians, who are without doubt worthy of refugee status. I'm still looking for a full transcript of the unedited interview but I won't hold my breath. Until then, I suggest the thread be pulled as a dishonest hatchet job, especially considering the source is HuffPo.
