Did Donald Trump's fax finally settle the debate over the facts?
One of the more contentious moments for the GOP front-runner at the latest Republican primary debate came when Sen. Marco Rubio and debate moderator Megyn Kelly questioned the performance record of Trump University, a now-defunct real estate training program that spawned class-action lawsuits by former students as well as a lawsuit by New York's attorney general.
On the stage, Trump maintained that the program, which was renamed the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative before ceasing operations in 2011, had earned an "A" rating from the Better Business Bureau, which both Kelly and Rubio disputed.
"The rating from the Better Business Bureau was a D minus," Kelly insisted.
Trump said that grade had been changed.
"It was elevated to an A," he countered over and over.
The dispute over the facts and Trump's veracity was left there during the televised face-off. However, at a commercial break shortly before the debate ended, Trump left the stage to hand a fax to Fox News' Brett Baier, who also moderated the event. Here is the moment captured by Independent Journal Review.
That fax, as Trump trumpeted via Twitter and in a Facebook post, contained the updated BBB letter grade.
The allegations around Trump University, the class-action lawsuits and the attorney generals case, are likely to continue dogging the billionaire businessman. But on one aspect of the issue, anyway, he might have made the grade.
“Not, if your a former visiting law professor.” YOUR?
“Scored, again; or maybe just a funny smartass reply to an idiot.”
Sounds more like the latter than the “former” Harvard law professor.
Trump University is more akin to those Seminar Programs, or IT Schools that prepare you for a job....
Probably about the same time as when debates were set up to have ambush questions lobbed to candidates (only Donald J Trump) from liberal Muslim YouTube people with an agenda. Note that hit job was attempted the debate Trump decided to do a veterans rally instead. Good for Trump.
Trump didn’t say that the rating had been faxed directly by the BBB.
