In the Kansas Republican caucus, very early returns have Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas in the lead. With 3 percent of the results in, Cruz has 53 percent of the vote, followed by Donald Trump with 21 percent, John Kasich with 15 percent, and Marco Rubio with 10 percent. The Kansas Republican Party released a statement earlier Saturday, saying turnout across the state was "incredible," with some locations reporting "four of five" times the number of voters who came out in 2012. Republicans are also caucusing today in Kentucky and Maine, and holding a primary in Louisiana.
No thanks.
I don't know but Trump getting booed in Wichita earlier today at his yuge rally and Cruz, at the same hall, gets cheered by supporters there to vote, might be telling Mr. Trump, he's OK but just not for us!
Kansas does indeed love Cruz. He did better there than Texas. No vicious crossovers to help Hillary in the GE. Thank you KS for knowing how to run an election.
“Truth of the matter he cant defund without congress”
The Republicans could defund it now if they wanted to. The same ones who hate Trump.
exactly what happened bcrag. Faux outrage by flaky carson and then opportunists trump and rubio piled on.
It’ about time KS said “No” to the Bob Dull-endorsed candidate.
It doesn’t matter. If Trump isn’t the nominee the country will be swamped with millions of uneducated poverty stricken Chavistas, Jihadis, and Ebola victims inside if five years.
Where did you vote yesterday? Where?
GO TED!!!
Early voted in FL
I don’t like Cruz because his votes show that he is a globalist. He will end the country through his often spoken fondness for legal immigration. If he wins, it will take a few years and the country will be over forever.
But, Rubio is the one who is horrifying.
Congress did vote to defund. Obama vetoed. Too many democrats for an override. Regardless. I don’t trust Trump to do what he says and that’s the crux of the issue for me.
Even if he is it will still happen. I will repeat myself, that wall is never going to get built.
You’re welcome. That is with the governor, senator and a rep endorsing Rubio and sec of state endorsing Trump. Cruz had endorsements, too, but some solid conservatives believed the polling and bailed — surrendered before the vote took place just like the GOPe.
The people have minds of their own. They’re tired of being told what to do.
“Congress did vote to defund. Obama vetoed.”
That was only for a show on the part of the Republicans; it allows them to go before the voters and say that they voted to defund PP. That is all it was. They could have taken it out of the budget.
Those people have the blood of babies on their hands, whoever voted for that budget.
Caucusing is a great way to choose delegates for State and county level delegates to choose State Reps and State Senators and other local partisan candidates. It breaks down in Presidential elections with large turnouts. There is a lot of talk this week in Minnesota about making the presidential vote a primary and keeping the caucus for other offices and party business. Apparently there is support for a change in both parties. It will be interesting to see how it works out.
Everyone I talked to was voting Cruz except one lady had not made up her mind. She said she had never been to one of these caucuses before, but she wanted to vote against Trump. I was surprised someone would come without knowing who they were going to vote for. Not meaning to make Trump people mad, just reporting what the lady said. She was probably in her 30s.
God Bless Ted Cruz and Kansas......way to go and Thanks.
I think that’s mostly because of Trump’s mouth.
Personally, I really wanted to like and get behind Trump but his language, mockery and threats were too much. Then many of his supporters started emulating him and I was completely turned off.
