She's passionate about her position on Cruz.
She ain't one of the nutballs or the paidbots.
I'm glad. But it applies both ways.
After watching Cruz on the campaign trail, I've become somewhat less of a fan and believer in his overall viability.
I've decided that Trump is my first preference, and am appalled at the vitriol that travels in both directions.
But even if I think it's true, I don't find it necessary so tell Cruz supporters they're "forever condemned to losing a part of their souls for this unworthy con artist" or some such inflammatory nonsense.
That's over the line, as is questioning people's patriotism or conservative bona fides.
I'm just sick of reading it, no matter how politely it's being said. I believe JimRob recently chimed in with similar sentiments, so my reaction is not isolated.
One thing I'm sure of: with respect to longtime FR members supporting either Cruz or Trump, I believe ZERO of them have lost "part of their souls", or suddenly aren't conservative, or don't believe in the Constitution, or whatever.
Elements of both sides clearly believe the other side has delusional supporters. That doesn't mean we need to mimic the candidates with all the unfair smears and tactics they're throwing at each other. Every top-tier candidate has liberally engaged in some sleazy tactics, many of which have gone beyond the pale. Nobody can deny it.
The site owner's attitude toward Cruz and Trump just happens to coincide with my own (which, believe me, is not always the case): 1) either Trump or Cruz will do, but Trump is leading the charge, and it's not a purely ideological charge; but it is real, positive, and not to be dismissed flippantly, and 2) the casting of aspersions by either side is gratuitous and wrong.
So FR members should never derisively tell other members that they've suddenly lost part of their soul because of who their nomination preference is...
Thank you for posting that.
I’ve been on a musician forum for several years where the liberals and conservatives are constantly at each others’ throats, nonstop insults and derision, and it gets really tiresome before long.
But they both fail to realize it’s absolutely imperative that we take our government away from the lying, backstabbing slime in DC who tell us whatever they think we want to hear, then go to work for lobbyists and rich donors.
Nobody who gets the money to campaign from those same donors will ever change a thing, which is the best reason I can think of Trump has been my number one choice since the day he announced.
If you don’t like that, fine. I don’t insult you because of your choice of candidates, show me the same courtesy.
+1
I still WANT to vote for Trump in the event a meteor hits Cruz
