As I pointed out rather pointedly, if crudely, to a fellow who says he was sworn to give his life for the Constitution (even though strictly speaking that only means his enlisted service). Gotta have a country to carry it out! Otherwise it really was only a hunk of paper and what a piteous thing to die for.

Yeah. Those “I swore and oath and it never expired” people are annoying. If it never expired, then they are still under the UCMJ. No thanks! My oath expired at EAOS! But I’m still an American and I fight for the homeland now on my own terms.
