Ted Cruz Campaign Running Out Of Cash
DCWhispers ^ | March 2, 2016 | DCWhispers

Posted on 03/03/2016 10:11:45 AM PST by VitacoreVision

Senator Ted Cruz won a hard-fought partial victory in Texas during last night’s Super Tuesday primary battle. It was the culmination of months of time and money spent meant to culminate in a clear post-Super Tuesday lead in the race to the GOP nomination this summer. The southern states were to be Cruz’s ticket to the White House.

For Cruz, that ticket never arrived. The Texas senator remains well behind Donald Trump in the delegate count, and now rumors are swirling of a campaign that has spent almost as much money as did the already-departed Jeb Bush fiasco, with little more to show for it – and that money is said to now be running out.

The numbers are staggering.

Over $100 million raised, much of it from Big Oil, and law firms, and much of that now spent trying to secure a better than 50% victory in Texas that would have garnered the candidate all of his home state’s 155 delegates, Instead, Cruz will have earned less than 44% support among Texas voters, a number well below historical averages for home state Texas candidates.

....

Ted Cruz gambled almost everything on a decisive Super Tuesday victory. That victory instead went to Donald Trump. Now word is spreading that Cruz’s former willing donors are pulling back from the campaign. Cruz still has considerable cash on hand, as does the Super PAC promoting him, (both raised significant amounts last month primarily after Cruz’s Iowa Caucus win) but far less cash than before yesterday’s primary battle and likely not enough cash to survive yet another month or more as projections have fewer and fewer donations coming in, unless the senator is somehow able to pull off one or two big upsets come March 15th in either Florida or Ohio.

“Continue to shine Truth upon the friend of rabid Marxists, including Rotten, Donald Trump,” saith the Lord."

We fully expect Cruz to say that tonight at the debate.

Like most of Ted Cruz’s donors, I send a small amount.

Most candidates, including Donald Trump, solicit donations.

Donald has not spent much of his own money. That’s not his style. He does not buy ads, for example.

He doesn’t need to because the media adores him and runs everything he says for free.

He rents auditoriums and that’s about it.

Campaigning costs him a little gas money as he is so neurotic he has to fly home to sleep in his own beddy bye every night.

So, why does Trump still solicit donations?

Plus, you cannot believe a word out of Donald Trump’s mouth.

Unless, of course, you are a little trump.

If I were Ted Cruz, I would not believe an offer from Donald if it were notarized by a hundred attorneys.

If I were Ted Cruz, I would not align myself with a crooked, immoral manipulator, not matter what I was promised.

"or the tragically humorous Trumpbots"

Why the derision and vitriol?

And, no, it's not just Cruz supporters as I have also seen Trump supporters do it.

FR has a very long tradition and culture of viciously attacking candidates...at least until "Jim makes the call".

But personal attacks on fellow Freepers have been generally frowned upon and diminishes all who engage in it.

Do not take an attack on your candidate personally! It will lead to you attacking a fellow Freeper.

Heidi has no reason to worry.

She is married to a fine man she can be proud of.

She’s not the fifth wife of a serial adulterer who will drop her if she gets a wrinkle.

Heidi is married to a man who will be President ... if not now then in four years, either after Trump loses to Hillary or after Trump wins and fails to do anything he promised.

Trump could not function well as dog catcher.

He would get really mad and start kicking dogs.

It is so hard to keep track of lies, isn't it?

It is also hard to keep track of all the cheap shots.

I counted 31 at the last debate and a number of them were in multiple and he handed them out so fast that if I were to count them all he's got probably at least 50.

Just in one debate.

He shoves insults down people's throats in order to make himself look good.

Yeah, real presidential.

You have no basis for that ridiculous statement ...’Cruz run to GOPe’.

Trump is the one the GOPe loves. They love him because he will deal, and wheel.

The GOPe is deathly afraid of Cruz, the one man who has stood up to them.

Perhaps their friends at Goldman Sachs can front them another “loan”....

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Or perhaps, Donald Trump could float him a loan, just to keep him in the race, sucking votes from Rubio.

He didn’t have to pay them back. He used campaign funds.

Hell of a deal, yes?

"Cruz is either broke or the big money people have been propping him up."

Why are you conflating what I said with what somebody else said?

I don't know if Cruz is out of money or not, and have no issue with any commercial interest contributing to whatever campaign or interest they see fit.

My observation is that a POTUS campaign, if run traditionally, costs an enormous sum. And for most candidates that means institutional investment.

And, I contend, institutional investment is clearly aligning with Rubio and Cruz's ability to continue will be diminished by that.

Trump has always been stingy with his own money. He’s never given much to worthy causes unless they are named Trump.

He does not have to advertise because all he has to do is make another outrageous statement and the press airs it for free.

Why are we talking about money? I think we all know that Trump has money.

We also know that he didn’t earn much of it, that he inherited about the same amount he currently has.

He played with his inheritance, ended up filing bankruptcy and suing most of the known universe.

He’s an egotist who loves to name stuff after himself.

The Whitehouse would become the Trumphouse.

Of course, Trump could not sleep in the White House. He has to spend every night in his own bed in New York.

But, no worries. He can choose between the regular Trump plane or the plane formerly known as Air Force One, but now to be called Trump One.

Need Cruz around to jam Robot’s gears until after Florida; when Cruz is distant third and has kept Foam Boy’s numbers down, then we can flush the toilet.

Hard to keep track of all the lies....

Yes, it is now amusing to watch his supporters try to keep up an rationalize each one that he disavowed yesterday and thinking of what will be said tomorrow. There is an endless list of excuses to excuse the excuses.

Every heard of musical chairs? Well this is Musical Excuses.......just how fast can they cover what he just said, round and round we go, where he stops nobody knows.

""""He shoves insults down people's throats in order to make himself look good."""""

This is why he loses in Closed Primary States....True.
