Mitt Romney ripped into Donald Trump today, calling his candidacy a case of "evil trumping good.
"A person so untrustworthy and dishonest as Hillary Clinton must not become president. Of course, a Trump nomination enables her victory," Romney said this morning in an address to the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah.
And that was the tip of the iceberg in a scathing speech the former GOP presidential nominee gave of his partys 2016 campaign front-runner.
"Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University," Romney said. "He's playing the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat."

Wow just utterly sad.
And in this case, Mitt Romney is an example of a loser telling others how to win.
Romney is a lefty. Always has been, always will be.
How cute. A new slogan for them to use.
The evil we just saw was Mitt Romney.
FUMR!! Loser.
[And in this case, Mitt Romney is an example of a loser telling others how to win.]
Kind of like the Cleveland Browns giving a speech on how to win the Super Bowl...
If only he had the balls to attack Barack Obama with this ferocity, he’d be running for his second term as President now.
Unfortunately, as usual, establishment Republicans save the long knives for their own.
Sort of like how nomination Romney helped Obama win re-election?
I’m no Trump supporter, but Romney you had your chance. You blew it. Now shut up.
Romney made it clear that he wants to be the nominee in a brokered convention.
He told people to vote for different candidates in every state.
He is out of his mind.
My son’s best friend is Mormon.
His family hates Myth.
Don’t give phony Mitt his hat, give him a spanking instead.
Me too.
In 2012 Romney would have been far better for the country than Obama. Trump recognized this and threw his support in and endorsed Romney. Romney was grateful for it and thanked him in glowing terms.
I believe it is very distasteful and low down for Romney to now turn on Trump in this fashion. Trump is the same man he was in 2012. Romney wanted and appreciated his support then.
If Romney has a true issue with Trump, then decency would say that he would meet with Trump personally and work it out.
But he is not...he is going to attack Trump as if though Trumps endorsement of him, and the fine things Romney himself said about Trump mean nothing.
This is a bad thing. Quite frankly for me, it is a disappointing because it would indicate that Romney himself is one of those politicians who takes the rest of us for fools and believes that we cannot, or will not, remember what he said and did in the past.
There is no honor or integrity in what Romney plans to do today. This is not how you return favors. This is not how you unite the party.
As I say...he should have gotten together personally with Trump and worked it out...and I believe trump would have made the time for him.
But the people themselves, irrespective of Romney, irrespective of Rubio, the GOPe, the MSMS, Hillary, Harry Reid, etc., etc. are the ones who are going to make this decision.
...and they are voting in droves.
I am a Cruz supporter and will support him until he either wins (looking less and less likely) or he bows out.
If Trump wins the nomination, I will support him 100%.
The end game here is defeating the unbelievable corrupt Hillary who promises to double down on Obama policies, or the communist, Bernie Sanders.
We unite the GOP by coming together and doing that with the nominee our own people elect.
Thats pretty plan and simple. Thats very straight forward.
What Romney and the GOPe are doing is underhanded on its face. Once more the establishment is telling us that they know better than we do.
Weve had enough of that song and dance.
Mitt Romney - south end of north bound horse.
If Romney had displayed one tenth the fire in his 2012 campaign, he would have been President.
I think he is not campaigning for President now, nor was he ever. He is (and was) campaigning to be Relevant.
I voted for this pathetic jerk, and have had to listen to and read all these Rino’s here nagging and blaming us because he threw the game.
Unfortunately, as usual, establishment Republicans save the long knives for their own.
