The American left created Donald Trump. When I say the left, I do not mean the Democratic Partyor, solely the Democratic Party. Rather, the pestilence that is the Trump campaign is the result of a conglomeration of political, academic, media, and cultural elites who for decades have tried to act as the arbiters of acceptable public debate and shut down any political expression from Americans with whom they disagree. They, more than anyone else, created Donald Trumps candidacy and the increasingly hideous movement he now leads.

Trump is less hideous than the PC Police, by far.

I just LMAO when I read this:-) (POLITICO) Donald Trumps speaking slot at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturdayis prompting an acrimonious backlash from the conservative critics desperately trying to mount a last-ditch campaign to block the GOP presidential front-runner from winning the partys nomination. A top aide to Trump rival Marco Rubio has accused CPAC organizers of being in the tank for Trump and clearing the way for his acceptance into mainstream conservatism, while an anti-Trump super PAC is pressuring organizers to rescind their invitation to the surging GOP front-runner. Potentially complicating matters further, sources tell POLITICO that Trump has made multiple donations ― including a $50,000 check last year ― to the American Conservative Union, the group that organizes CPAC. That dwarfs the amounts donated in recent years by allies of Trumps rivals, all of whom are also scheduled to speak at the annual gathering, and seems likely to fuel already percolating suspicions among his opponents that the ACU has its thumb on the scale for Trump.

"the pestilence that is the Trump campaign" !
Good grief. If an American success story running for President is "pestilence," what is Miley Cyrus? What is Michael Moore?

The great mistake made by both liberals and their most extreme wing on the American left is to assume that ordinary people, once corrected forcefully enough, will comply with their new orders. Long but good article. Thanks for posting.

Nichols: “I will cut off my own nose and spite my own face, just to make sure millions of other Americans are spited too for disagreeing with my infallible opinion.”
This attitude baffles me.

It’s not Trump they think is a “pestilence”. It’s YOU American.

Gee whiz, an American Leftist's admission that the foulness of American Leftists as persons, their ethics, morals and policies enforced and propagandized on the American people by the Leftist American Media has created Donald Trumps appeal to those same abused and disdained American people.
Who would have thunk it?

If CPAC tries to freeze Trump out, I hope there’s a way he can sue them for every dime he ever donated to them.

Only someone like Trump could do what he is doing.
A person comfortable with who they are, and independently wealthy, and no prior political history.
How much of Trumps persona is just that, a persona? Those that don’t like him, do not take him serious, and that is just one of their mistake.
They focus on the man and not the message and attack the man. For many that support Trump, it is not the man they support, it is the message.
So the media present the persona in order to public ridicule him (giving him free access to the public) and what happens, his message is spread far and wide.

Left and Right have become meaningless terms, call it what it is: the Ruling Class. Aka the Uniparty.
The Romney/McConnell/Boehner wing of the Republican Party had more to do with “creating Trump” than the Democrats did.

Correct....with the caveat that only this man seems capable of delivering the message in a way which is effective....

Because for too long we’ve so unswervingly supported the GOPe (the “e” part being somewhat hidden from view until recently), that the big shot politicos now really believe that they own us, our votes, and even the entire political process, and are aghast that we’re discovering that we own our own votes. How they can’t realise that they did this to themselves with the kind of mess they pulled in Mississippi, and things like “caving” to the ‘rats on every issue (though I no longer would characterise it as caving, I think it’s more like complicit), I don’t know, or else they just don’t care that we see them for what they are now, because things have come down to the wire.

I see it as the elite parasites at the very top in a pact with the parasites at the very bottom, to squeeze the working middle class for every cent and every bit of freedom and security they can squeeze us for.

Good analogy. I doesn’t matter to those at the top or at the bottom who gets squeezed, as long as they get what THEY want.

Author still shows ignorance. It isn't all about voice, it's about policy. Trump reflects folk's anger sure, but he's got the policy nailed too. This is something the author ignores as a justification for writing the standard BS, as in 'never vote for Trump - in order to keep their position in line at the buffet.
Trump has published his positions, sooner and more in-depth than Cruz, quite frankly.
