Although at one time it was alleged that the primary candidate of the Republican Party for President of the United States, Donald Trump, wanted to take away American citizenship from Puerto Ricans once he took office, he sent a message this afternoon in the 99th anniversary of the Jones Act 1917.
"I join the 3.6 million US citizens living in that beautiful island to celebrate such an important date for all Puerto Ricans and all Americans also," said the magnate in written statements.
In his message, the businessman highlighted the natural beauty of the island, but established "the best that Puerto Rico has to offer is its people."
"Many Puerto Ricans have contributed significantly to the United States in the fields of the arts, sports, culture, business and, above all, through the sacrifice and patriotism of countless Puerto Ricans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This dedication to the nation serves as an example for all", he added.
"I'm glad that you are part of our nation," he said in his letter.
Meanwhile, Coralys Ruiz Jimenez, coordinator of media and social networks in Puerto Rico for Trump said in an interview with El Vocero that Trump "has been very clear that he is in favor of Latinos, which is not in favor of illegal immigrants from anywhere. "
In his speeches, Trump has promised that if elected he will build a wall along the border with Mexico to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants president.
However, Ruiz Jimenez insisted that the tycoon has the support of Latinos in the Republican primary, citing as an example the case of Nevada, where he obtained a vote of six thousand Latinos.
"The message was clear, a unification in the United States with everyone. He wants to make America great again. It is the message that has always led from the start of his campaign ... return jobs to all legal citizens, "he stated.
Presidential primary on the island will be held next Sunday, March 6. Then they are in Florida, on March 15, and in New York on April 19, states where there is a large concentration of Latinos.
I am English, Irish, French, scotch,German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish. My mother is protestant, my father catholic. My grandfather was Jewish. I have dated an Israeli. I fell in love with the Israeli people. Some of my grandkids are half Haitian. My sister married a Puerto Rican. My niece married a man half Brazilian and half Cuban.my fathers brother is gay and has been with the same partner for 55 years I wish they would stop dividing us. We are all Americans. Signed a proud tea party conservative. Btw I don’t believe for one minute trump is prejudice. His tens of thousands employees would be coming out of the wood work
After my second recent visit, this is a very true statement.
Thanks for that.
#President Trump!!!
I have NO IDEA how Trump can CLAIM he supports border security when he treats Puerto Rica as American. For goodness sakes, we already have AT LEAST 11 MILLION Illegals in this country - how many more does he want?
(my imitation of a TDS person here)
Almost got me there.
You are a European mutt like me. : )
