I suspect this was a warning shot in response to the fantasy speculations among the establishment...
Hijacking a brokered convention and nominating Paul Ryan as the "consensus candidate that could unite the party."
I do not think it was an indication of a "my way or the highway" approach to dealing with Congress generally.
I know people get all wrapped up with the concept of "negotiation," but that is exactly what the Framers intended with co-equal branches of government.
I do not think you can take a "no compromise" position on every issue and call yourself a Constitutionalist.

Same thing any President does when a player on his side in Congress decides their ego overrides the will of the voters. Simply ask his voters at the next election to send the recalcitrant home and replace him with a rational adult replacement.

What Obama was supposed to be able to do but fortunately failed.
Speak to the people and get them to tell congress what we want.
Maybe a reality TV show where every week is a competition for which member of congress (D & R) will be primaried next election and a YUGE viewership that will follow through on the results.
With Trump you never know. But you can bet that he won't spend his weekends golfing if congress isn't doing what the people want.

Use his bully pulpit to encourage primarying of Paul Rino.

He never tells you what he’s going to do, he just threatens. School yard bully. I was going to vote for him if he was the nominee, but the more of this crap I hear the less likely that becomes. Enough already.

Trump could support primary opponent, go to media and call Ryan out, work behind scenes with other members etc.

Cultivate and fund a real conservative challenger to Ryan in a primary battle.
