Ahmed Mohameds former school district has sued the Texas Attorney General defying an order to reveal details of a federal investigation related to the Muslim teens arrest after bringing a homemade clock to school last year.
Dozens of Democratic U.S. Congress members called for a civil rights investigation of Irving officials last September, after Ahmed was handcuffed at MacArthur High for showing his teacher the clock.
The Department of Justice launched an investigation days later, sending Irving ISD a multi-page letter that outlined accusations of harassment and discipline of students on the basis of race, religion and national origin.
For months, Irving ISD has been handing over records to comply with the governments investigation even as it has resisted requests by The Dallas Morning News to see the letter that launched it.
Among other reasons for keeping the investigations details secret, the district has argued that it expects to be sued, citing a demand from Ahmeds lawyer to pay millions or face a civil rights trial.
But the Attorney Generals office rejected those concerns this month and ordered Irving ISD to make the investigation letter public.

No. Not at all.
Irving is near Dallas.
It’s strictly an open records issue.
This is what Irving ISD is saying:
“Irving ISD argues that the Attorney Generals order is inconsistent with previous rulings and is simply contrary to the common law understanding, but cites no examples or other cases to support the claim.”
His family never picked it up from the police dept.
Not when you’re looking at a circuit board and a digital read out. I’m not sure how a school teacher would know the difference between clock boy’s Radio Shack clock and a bomb mechanism shown in the movies.
I’d appreciate it if you could do that later.
Exactly. Based on an analysis it was an old Radio Shack Micronta clock. Chances are, it’s older than clock boy.
I have no opinion as to the legal merits of the case. In general, I side with open records access.
That said, ny heart is strongly with the City of Irving and with Irving ISD. They’ve got a mess on their hands with that small but rabid muslim population.
I live nearby; been following it for years. Clock Boy is just the latest attempt to cause trouble.
Per your request, meatloaf; I’m being lazy on the HTML, else you could see the picture without clicking on it.
Here’s a good video that shows what was involved in “inventing” this clock, in about 20s:
As someone who built Radio Shack and Heathkit electronics kits back in the day, operations that involved soldering irons and such, the idea that this kid was an “inventor” is and was complete horse apples. Nor was I an inventor, I was just a kid assembling electronics kits. Clockmed didn’t do half of what I did, as the video illustrates.
Here’s a good graphic that, with a little thought and reflection, should make things clear to even the most dense:

It is arguable that this whole episode was carried out to make people hesitant to say something, if they see something. Who knows, perhaps Clockmed helped make the San Bernardino shootings possible?

Thanks much!
Glad to oblige. Liberal PC idiocy on this needs to be refuted forcefully. Get to work! Applies to me, too.
FYI, every one of those links have been scrubbed less than 3 years later. Just damn.
