A long-time political insider just made a bombshell announcement about conservative Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who is running for President.
This Republican operative, who has worked on 9 different presidential cycles, couldnt keep it quiet any longer after being in talks with key leaders of Cruzs and Senator Marco Rubios (R-FL) campaigns.
The insider is Roger Stone. He once worked for Donald Trump, and passed along his report to a popular radio host that Cruz used a high-priced attorney to confidentially request that Rubios team promise Cruz a Supreme Court appointment in exchange for Cruz exciting the race. This is in addition to recent reports that the candidates wives have been in contact, discussing why someone dropping out is essential.
This is unprecedented, but Cruz has to be well aware that the political establishment is lining up behind Rubio. Fox News has a pro-Rubio tilt, and the powerful Koch brothers just sent a number of their top operatives to Team Rubio in hopes of defeating Trump during a contentious convention fight.
Cruz has been a bold conservative voice in the United States Senate who has been willing to filibuster Obamacare and take on his own party. But while hes a constitutional scholar with solid principles, its clear that after his team messed with Dr. Ben Carson, he is also willing to play dirty tricks.
However, those tricks havent changed Trumps nearly insurmountable lead, and Cruz doesnt want to face even more legal battles about his former dual-citizenship with Canada. Cruz, who is a former Supreme Court law clerk, may see a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court as the perfect exit strategy!
As Roger Stone once noted about Cruz, he is the ultimate Nixonian politician:
Vladimir Lenin said, There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel. I cant think of a better description of Ted Cruzs relationship with the DC-Wall Street Establishment Cruz being the scoundrel of course. Cruzs claim of not being a tool of the political elite is like Bill Clinton telling the world, I did not have sexual relations with that woman. [ ]
Despite his ability to lie with a straight face (sadly Nixonian) on his support for amnesty and TPP, he got nailed by Senator Marco Rubio on the debate. Acting like a prick in the U.S. Senate was the core of Teds disciplined effort to bury his old school ties and reinvent himself as a modern-day Jesse Helms and supposed Conservative outsider. Its a ruse. Its clear that something dramatic has to happen this week, with 12 primary elections happening on Super Tuesday. Without deals like this, nothing can stop the Trump Train.
What do you think about Ted Cruz allegedly offering to drop out of the race?
More sleazy tactics from Donald Trump.
Trump fired Stone because he knew Roger was nutso and no good would come to having him around. My opinion only.
Teddy lies.
Trump has already done me a BIG favor, Destroyed the GOP.
I want Cruz, but that Ship has sailed.
If Trump doesn’t get there and succeed, turn out the lights, the party’s over for this Country.
LOL. Texas may secede some day, but Teddy won’t be leading the charge.
Trump didn’t make this up. Stone doesn’t work for Trump.
Right.
If you say so.
Boulderdash!
Getting nominated is a far cry from getting the job. It would be pretty dumb to ‘demand’ a nomination. Cruz may be a lot of things but even Trump doesn’t call him dumb.
Absurd. A Senate that hates Cruz neverTrump confirms him to SCOTUS.
Everyone at that time with a brain knew it was a poison pill. So no amount of lying will change the facts.
And who exposed all the issues and got the house on board with defeating it? Hmmmm.....? Yes go ahead say it...CRUZ.
well, thank goodness there's still an invective that's acceptable to the press. I like the word, 'prick'; it's concise.
I admit I'm an age-ist. I believe Supremes should be old when they're appointed. Cruz was a bit too vinegary and not so much a team-builder in the Senate (but he tried hard), and, he could be the first SCOTUS member that the others unanimously vote to kick off the bench for talking too much (the last part is joking).
But it comes across strongly that he does love lawyering, so he might be much happier, and more in his element, as U.S. Attorney General. From there he could quick-step into the FBI, where he could accomplish a world of good, and he's got his status job and a pension in line with that of his spouse. Win-win for him and the USA, and he doesn't permanently shut the door on himself running for President again.
A lie. You probably no that. Shame on you.
I’d consider this if it was Trump he was asking, but asking the guy who hasn’t won a single state and won’t win any today? Doubtful.
This is stupid. Rubio is not winning anything.
Cruz has ridden on the tail of Jeff Sessions coats throughout his career, using Sessions as his dang bona fidis and backdrop, like they were some kind of BFF (Best Friends Forever).
Sessions gave Cruz one simple perfunctory nod for effort, against the GANG 8 Bill.
Jeff never voiced even a squeak of approval for Ted Cruz’ bright idea for a “pathway to legalization”. At least that I ever heard.
Jeff Sessions is unimpressed with Ted Cruz, never otherwise mentioned his name, and Jeff knows Cruz is a climber and a North American Union facilitator.
Why do you think he endorsed TRUMP? He knows who is serious and who is unserious on illegals.
What? Cruz gets a dose of his own, and your miffed? LOL!
If the shoe fits.....
Trump offered Sessions something. I know a hell of a lot more about Jeff than you and pure he isn’t.
In two years Teddy will be fighting to save his senate seat. Unless he pulls a marco and leaves after one term.
