We knew his father-in-law, many decades ago,so it REALLY hit me very hard.
McClintock! I know it sounds lightweight compared to Rio Grande or The Quiet Man, but their chemistry was palpable in that movie.

Any poll result, I am not seeing TV, NERVOUS.
When I was extremely young, in the late sixties or early seventies, I told my mother I wanted to marry either Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly. She explained to me that not only were they already married, but they were both old men. However, years later, after they were widowed, they both married women younger than I was! Harrumph! :-)

To pass some time & avoiding cable news, I’m re-watching Season 1 “12 Monkeys”. Ironically, I’m not a fan of SciFi but found this series version better than the original movie - the writing is surprisingly intelligent.

You know, “they” keep going on about how beautiful the actresses of today are, such as Jennifer Anniston and Julia Roberts - don’t know many of the others. When you think of all the pampering, hair specialists, stylists, etc. they have. almost anyone could look nice. I think they are pretty, but not beautiful.
My idea of beauty is Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Ava Gardner, Lauren Bacall (in a different sort of way) and some of the ones from the real old movies - Claudette Colbert was really pretty and could be funny, there was one my mom really liked - Veronica Lake.

Just thought of a couple of more: the King and I and also Paint Your Wagon (Clint Eastwood - I talk to the trees and Lee Marvin were really good.
