Scarborough: Trump Comments on David Duke, KKK 'Disqualifying'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 02/29/2016 5:12:54 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

If Joe Scarborough were ever, as some have claimed, in the the tank for Donald Trump, he has officially climbed out as of this morning. On today's Morning Joe, reacting to the clip of Jake Tapper's interview, Scarborough called Trump's refusal to forthrightly reject the support of Klansman David Duke "disqualifying."

A bit later, Joe and Mika Brzezinski said that if Trump fails today to clean up the situation, Chris Christie "cannot stay with Donald Trump's campaign."

No... I’m showing you how to answer press questions.... instead of lying and pretending you don’t know who david duke is. Or instead of worrying that you may lose the klan vote.

I’m amused how David Duke gets brought up by intellectual types, and the guy is more or less some college nitwit who briefly got used for media purposes in the 1980s/1990s, and is more or less a pawn of various lobbyists....to be used when necessary.

People who run around and worry of the Klan in 2016...probably ought to worry about wild-dogs in their neighborhood, aliens coming to probe them, or worry about Peruvian drug cartels in Manhattan.

The Klan is a toothless beast and if you see some group trying popularize off the Klan....you can assume there is some lobbyists at work and helping to fund the effort....herding people into some voting both to vote in a certain way to “save their neighborhood or save their state”.

The repudiation gimmick is just that...a gimmick. Would you be willing to repudiate American usage of the nuke in Japan? Would you be willing to repudiate American money going to drug cartels in Mexico? Would you be willing to repudiate American hopelessness with Indian reservations? I could write a “War and Peace” book of 1,243 pages over all the various things in the world to repudiate.

Don’t waste your time and effort over repudiation. Move forward and learn from past mistakes....don’t repeat those mistakes or waste time repudiating the past.

Did we used to argue on the same side during the Freeper Calvin wars years ago? Maybe I’m wrong, but I think I remember you there. I was on the “whosoever will may come” side.

In any case, I don’t really have problems with too many freepers. I think the are fair and insightful with rare exceptions. We get to elections and some go off the deep end, but pretty much only during that election.

Trump disavowed Duke back in August. I understand he even disavowed Duke the day before that interview.

He says he was focused on the other groups part of the question, and he says he had a bad earpiece from the network, so he was not catching the entire question. He also says that he doesn’t know Duke, that he’s never met him, never tried to meet him.

And he’s disavowed Duke again. So that’s at least 3 times during his campaign that he’s disavowed Duke.

They have gotten political over the years and generally on the democratic party’s side.

Yes... we were, and would still be on the same side in the Calvin wars :) And I agree with you.... those Trumpsters have gone off the deep end during this election cycle :)

I like the way Trump says "I love the evangelicals".... It's like ME saying I love the Dallas Cowboys. I ain't one of them though :) Just a fan.

Exclusive – Tea Party Patriots Publishes Evidence Henry Barbour at Center of Race-Baiting in MS, Calls on Reince Priebus to Censure

7 Aug 2014

A new white paper from Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund puts a target on GOP operative Henry Barbour for his role in incendiary racial appeals in the Mississippi GOP Senate primary.

“Henry Barbour was the field general in an unprecedented campaign to smear a fellow Republican, so desperate was his family to cling to power,” Jenny Beth Martin, the chair of TPPCF, said in the statement provided exclusively to Breitbart News. “We’re used to these tactics from Democrats: desperate appeals to emotion, fear-mongering, even playing the ‘Klan’ card. Who would have thought the Barbour machine would finance such despicable race-baiting?”

Elites in every human culture have checklists of ‘in’ beliefs - - a priori stuff - - things that must never be challenged. It's how elites justify their privilege.

In the Jim Crow South it was a series of beliefs that blacks were inferior and deserved the position elites put them in... Joe Scarborough's grandfather - and possibly his father would fall into this belief system. They would be racists. Racists in the Jim Crow South were as sure of the ‘rightness’ of their positions as our current elites are sure of theirs.

And yes, the KKK was evil in it's time - but that evil derived from the racism, foibles and ‘checklists’ of the dominate culture of the time - from the Southern Establishment.

Today's Establishment is protecting evil also... in the name of their own power... as Establishments do...The groups are different, the tactics the same.

The KKK is powerless in our time. They ride the coattails of evils from an earlier time but they're impotent. Tapper knows this... or maybe he's as delusional as the Oberlin Professors huddling with students in lock-downs because one liberal elite student put a sheet over his head and pretended to be a KKK monster from the past.

The challenge is to fight the evils of our own times and not be distracted by the ghost images of monsters from the past...

There’s only one Messiah, my friend, and I know any candidate for US president is not Him.

However, I do think Trump is going to win, and I think we should try to shape him. How?

VP pick.

The Senate and House that we choose.

Letters that INSIST on a high tech double WALL being built. Personally, I want it across the entire border bar nothing. I don’t care if some of the land is a natural barrier.

In the same way that they have an agenda, I think David Duke is hired to endorse candidates to embarrass them.

I suspect Haley Barbor who did similar/worse things in the Chris McDaniel/Thad Cochran race.

Thanks, maggie...great reminder/proof of the dirty work Henry Barbour/Stevens were exposed for, in MS. Same old dirty tricks, for these hacks.

Love Chuck Woolery's tweets....

Ha! LOL. Chuck Woolery ‏@chuckwoolery 12m12 minutes ago David Duke should endorse the party that created the KKK. The Democrat Party. That's where they all came from. Inconvenient HISTORY.

Understand... here's my deal with the wall.

1) He's not going to build the wall. Neither political party really wants a wall. It's not going to happen.

2) and most contrasting for me.... while I am VERY opposed to illegal immigration, I am not opposed to immigration. In fact, I teach a naturalization class at my church once a week. We prepare people who are here legally, and are prepping to take the naturalization test. I teach them US History and Civics in a 3 month class. It is very rewarding... and I always go when they take their oath.

3) When I go to certain parts of town I always feel like I went to Tijuana or someplace and it is very outside of my comfort level, even though I can speak spanish.

4) I realize that God loves Tijuana as much as he does the suburbs of Oklahoma City.... and I have to remember that.

Trump's VP pick? Who knows who that guy will pick. Anyone from Ted Cruz to Valerie Jarret is probably possible.

This response just doesn’t make any sense given he had just disavowed Duke two days earlier.

No, given all that it's the question that didn't make any sense...clearly Tapper was trying to lead him somewhere and Trump didn't take the bait.

Vicente Fox, is that you?

YOU have no idea what Trump can and will do. Who are YOU to determine that? That sounds like the GOPee/Cheap Labor cabal talking points. They fear the Trump Wall. I see you do, too.

4) I realize that God loves Tijuana as much as he does the suburbs of Oklahoma City.... and I have to remember that.

So, you think the OK City/suburbs and Tijuana are equivalent to everyone? Very Open Borders of you.

What does God have to do with the two? What does that even mean? Please explain.
