Either you are going to allow free ranging discussions about legitimate areas of debate and even disagreement among conservatives, or you are not. If you are not, then the utility of this website as a tool for information and discussion with fellow conservatives is over.
I’m sad to say, Jim - that you’re acting like William F. Buckley in reverse. Where Buckley pushed out the extremists, the Birchers, and the Rothbardians - you are embracing them - and pushing out the actual conservatives. You built a great thing; FR was a very influential tool since the Clinton Administration, but many of the old FReepers tell me they don’t recognize the place anymore. Do you want it to remain relevant? Then you should encourage, not quash debate.

Ok, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.
If this election boils down to Trump vs Hillary in the general this November, how will you vote?
In that case, I would certainly not vote for Hillary. Would I vote for Trump? I don't know, but the uncertain expected value of a roll of the dice with Trump is statistically a marginally better outcome than the certainty of Hillary. Meaning, there is some small chance he might turn out not to be a flaming liberal, a flaming centrist, a flaming liar, or an utter incompetent - but I'm not optimistic.
We, however, are not at that point. There are far better conservative choices than Trump, and until all of those options are exhausted, I am committed to defeating Trump.
Look, if you cannot make a personal commitment to doing your utmost to save our republic in the case of Trump vs Hillary, then that means you are ok with President Hillary. I’m not and FR is not and we’re done.

What I wrote was that a vote cast for Trump was marginally better - on the off chance he doesn’t suck - than a vote for Hillary, who most certainly will suck.
Do you want cheering and a brass band? Not gonna happen. You have faith in Trump. I do not.
