Bill Clinton: Going vegan has kept me alive
By Mark Hensch
Former President Clinton on Thursday credited a vegan diet with preserving his health after leaving the Oval Office.
â[It] changed my life,â he said in Las Vegas, according to Politico. "I might not be around if I hadnât become a vegan. Itâs great."
Clinton, 69, then touted the lifestyle improvements he has experienced by practicing a vegan diet and avoiding most animal food products.
âThe vegan diet is what I like the best,â he said. "I have more energy. I never clog. For me, the no dairy thing, because I had an allergy, has really helped a lot. And I feel good.â
The nationâs 42nd chief executive admitted he is not always strictly vegan, and added that he has also not always enjoyed the food.

Around late October, Hillary won’t keep him alive.
If thats what vegan does to you, no thanky.
I think he means to say vagina diet.
So....
Is “going vegan” code for not shagging teenagers in the office?
I can’t keep up with current vernacular.
He’s alive? Last time I saw him on camera I wasn’t sure.
I tried a vegan diet a few years ago. After about 3 weeks without protein from meat I could barely drag myself out of bed. I had a nagging headache 24/7 I felt sick!
I’ll say it again, what works for one person is really bad for someone else!
Did you substitute nuts or milk as a source of protein?
I, too, have found that I lack energy if I try to go without meat in my diet. No headaches, but a distinct drop in energy.
He looks very frail for his age. The young people are not as excited about a frail geriatric, so at least he’s not considered a rock star anymore.
Meat and fat, low carb with fasting between meals sometimes, is the diet we are designed for.
I am a huge milk drinker, so yes to milk. I eat almonds every day now, maybe I didn’t back then. I need beef or chicken especially. I was prone to headaches back then so it isn’t surprising that I needed the protein.
Groovy.
“Going vegan has kept me alive”
Just barely.
>>and you don’t even eat off of bone china.
OK, that’s funny right there! LOL
“Meat and fat, low carb with fasting between meals sometimes, is the diet we are designed for.”
Yeah, I’ve heard that from the paleo crowd but I tend to doubt it. I tried it for awhile and my cholesterol level went through the roof.
Michael Gregor at his http://nutritionfacts.org/ website reduces dietary studies to short videos. These appear to be real double blind studies. His argument is that our cardiovascular system is greatly improved the more we stick to a plant based diet.
Every vegan I ever knew used drugs. Pot or tobacco, certainly.
Nuts are one of the best plant based sources of protein. Legumes also. If you limit meat you have emphasize plant based sources of protein.
“I am a huge milk drinker”
You might want to try kefir. It’s expensive so if you find that you like it, get yourself some kefir grains and make your own.
No kidding. Vegan explains why Slick Willy looks like an AIDS patient ...
