To: Daniel Ramsey
On first blush, I like the idea of Santorum.
I’d like to keep that in reserve, but it’s certainly not a bad idea.

I've asked some FRumsters their VP pick and actually had a few bring up Kasich, sadly.

I wasn’t in favor. I’d like to take my Fifth Amendment privilege not to incriminate myself.

Kasich would be OK I suppose. He would probably help lock up OH, without which the GOP isn’t getting the White House. OTOH, no real excitement there.

My rule of thumb is to support the selection of someone who I might have considered favorably for the top slot.
It is strange to me to see people mention someone that is so problematic we wouldn’t have considered them for the top slot.
I agree with your take on it.

No he doesn’t.
NOBODY wants that job.
Unless the Establishment has tipped him off that they’re already planning a grassy knoll deal.

A governor is certainly better than anybody with a day job inside the beltway. Short list seems to be Walker, Kasich, Rick Scott (FL), etc.

Scott Walker would be my choice.

If a governor is preferred for VP, having military experience would help, also. I think Gov. Perry would be on the list, not Kasick.

Kasich would be to Trump as GHW Bush was to Reagan - a complete disaster.
