That leaves Rubio and Cruz. Neither one of them can beat Clinton, or Trump for that matter. Yes, Cruz captured Iowa, but he is too scary for moderate Republicans and independents. And the GOP "establishment" can hope that with Jeb gone, Rubio will scoop up enough non-Trump votes to cruise to a victory, but that's not happening either. After Cruz and Trump grab their share of the undecided, there won't be enough left to give Rubio the bump he needs to pass Trump.
Last summer, I gave you five reasons why so many Americans loved Trump and why he would go the distance. Notice, four of the five points cemented his path to the Republican nomination. At the time, the seasoned political commentators and pundits just rolled their eyes at me. Now they're predicting a win.
1. He's real.
2. He doesn't care what you think.
3. Many Americans hate Washington.
4. It's early (null).
5. You want to see him debate.

If you think you have seen stacked audiences, wait for that one. Glenn Beck will probably be a mod, too.
It’s over until Cruz gets some big wins on March 1st... Rubio continues to go 0-for-whatever... and the Party has to choose.
Trump or Cruz.
The dynamic is very different in a two man race...
God bless the GOPe for setting up a primary system that has effectively locked out their candidate.
I really believe that if Trump wasn’t in this race, the nominee would have been Rubio which would have all but guaranteed a Hillary Presidency. We should kiss the ground Trump walks on because he’s saving this country from enduring 8 years of absolute hell on earth. There is no way she is going to beat him, he is going absolutely obliterate her in the worst way, expose her to the very last detail for exactly what she is. She is absolutely nuts, because she has to know this. He is going to strip away all her defenses, all the media protection, all the lies...I said last week he’s going to even go so far as to try to have her arrested, lay out the evidence in the court of public opinion and that’s exactly what he said he going to do yesterday.
The more trump talks the more i find it very hard to vote for him.
He is not doing himself any favors by attacking the other candidates the way he is. He might win the primaries with 35% support but in the general he is going to have to kiss and make up with the other 65%. I dont see that happening with the way he is going scorched earth on cruz and rubio.
Of course not. They are playing “fair” for viewership and would prefer to not be directly admonished by Trump. Other than Faux News who don’t seem to get it, none of the MSM wants to be on the receiving end of a Trump beating.
Your post 23 is absolutely spot on. 100% correct in all its details.
I will not vote for trump in the general. However, if he is the nominee, I believe he will win the general.
He careful what you wish for. The devil is in the details.
I wonder what FNC reaction to a Trump nomination will be? I mean they will lose major $$ over not being able to hold a Presidential debate.
You have to admit, any Presidential debate that pits Donald Trump against BS or more BS(HRC) - pun intended - will be very entertaining and worth watching.
Cruz is only “scary” to democrats
ANY conservative is always “scary” or “mean” because only those that love the government are good.
Because CNN and MSNBC are the new voices of ‘conservatism’...meh.
The past month, CNN and MSNBC have been a hell of a lot more fair in their coverage of the election than Fox “Funeral Dirge” News’ wake that they call coverage and analysis every time there’s a contest and Rubio doesn’t win.
Flipping your question around, is 24/7 pimping for Rubio the “old voice” of conservatism everyone should stick with?
Its not really that hard....
Trump has put forth the argument of America first and taken on the NEOCON nonsense that has dominated the Republican Party for too long.
He’s called them out, and they can’t silence him, and can’t beat him either....
Game Over.
The path isn’t completely closed to someone else statistically yet, but the odds that anyone other that Trump will be the nominee and eventually the President at this point are narrowing daily.
Come 3/1 the path is narrow indeed, by 3/15 you’d have to see a comeback the likes of which has never happened in US national politics.
Then come November, you will see Trump literally redefine the EC Map... the days of Carl Rove type of stupid politicking at the national level are done. The, concede most of the map and then try to win a GOTV in a handful of states is over, thank God.
Trump is showing how to win, and as much as it pains some here, you can’t win a national election reliably by the small ball nonsense the Neocons and Rove offer.
Put America First, and you rule the map.... what a concept.
“The more trump talks the more i find it very hard to vote for him.”
I totally agree, but he has one “yuge” advantage; he’ll be running against Hillary and 99% of Republican voters will crawl over broken glass to vot AGAINST her. They won’t stay home this time.
I agree, though, that he needs to halt all the smack-down talk about the other candidates in the GOP field. At some point, if he is the nominee, he has to unite the party behind him. He is going to have to mend some fences, and going scorched-earth on all the other candidates is really unnecessary.
He is the nom.
How did the country get to this point? a bully vs a pathological angry b!tch liar.
A big advantage that Trump will have in the general election is a way to neutralize the media to a degree. Trump handles the media very well, and gets all kinds of free airtime.
voting for Hillary then, sounds like a solid plan to me.
I totally agree, but he has one âyugeâ advantage; heâll be running against Hillary and 99% of Republican voters will crawl over broken glass to vot AGAINST her. They wonât stay home this time.
No.. she will beat him like a rented mule.
Bingo! Same thing I was thinking.
Yep. In all fairness...I voted for Cruz in our primary.
With that being said...I heard a Cruz fan calling into the radio station this morning and complaining about how ignorant Trump voters were. It enraged me....and nothing could be further from the truth.
I know plenty of very smart...very educated...well informed people who are Trump voters. Why? They are furious at DC! They are tired of being told "we know better than you....but thanks for your vote!" This is SQUARELY at the feet of the GOP-E...because they did not fight like we voted for them to do. PERIOD.
And the lie that Trump can't win the general election? THAT is ignorance. Trump will beat Hill/Bern much more soundly than Rubio or Cruz. He has broad appeal...and the dem base is demoralized at their choices. Hispanics will support him, more than they will Cruz/Rubio...and the dims will be lucky if only 20% of their black base deserts them.
