Now that Donald Trump has wiped the floor yet again with the other Republican candidates in the Nevada caucuses, it's time for the GOP to face reality -- barring force majeure, they have a presidential candidate, like it or not.
The so-called establishment has a choice: Get on the Trump bandwagon or try some desperate maneuver to stop him. But what would that be? A Rubio-Cruz ticket, assuming they would do it? At the time of this writing, the two men added together don't equal the Trump vote in Nevada -- and that's even assuming their voters would hold, which is a risky assumption, given the current momentum. I mean -- Donald won 46% of the Hispanics! Enough already.

Trump has made several big promises. I don’t think his ego will allow him to break them. He’s someone who love to see his poll numbers increase. Breaking a promise achieve the opposite of this. To what end? Why would he break them. He gain nothing from breaking his promise. He’s not governed/influenced by donors, special interest, lobbyists. What drives him is his desire to be regarded as the best president ever, better than Reagan
All I can do is point out, any way that I can, that such an effort would be doomed to failure, and would have the effect of detonating the Republican Party.
But you are right, that might not be enough. I think there is a certain class of Republican who would rather destroy the party and hand the whole thing to the Democrats than support Donald Trump.
Easy. $
The Republican establishment is tickled with Trump’s success, they know an establishment guy when they see one.
The Republican establishment is tickled with Trump’s success, they know an establishment guy when they see one.
Actually, I hope they keep attacking him for the next week or so, just to make the steamrolling all the more inevitable. Every time they open their mouths, it cements people’s resolve to vote for Trump.
So the whole thing depends on Donald Trump internal definition of The Best President Ever.
Do we have enough information to divine what that definition is? That is the question that worries me.
I haven't seen that kind of enthusiasm since The British Invasion.
IF you listen to one of his rally for 1hr you’ll know
I think the establishment hating him is part of his appeal... maybe its best the keep things the way they are, it seems to be working!

Oh yeah. Two cuban Jr Senators from Southern states. What could go wrong?
Well, I can do anything for an hour. I go to the Dentist and sit there for an hour. It can't be worse than that!
No, it cannot be Rubio/Cruz. Too many, like myself, don’t trust Rubio not to head right back to Schumer and push for another “gang of eight” amnesty bill. I’d likely hold my nose and vote Trump. Now, imo, only a Cruz/Rubio hook up might be a successful challenge to Trump, but they better announce it soon.
It's not the end you should be worrying about, it's the means.
Everything you wrote is about what Trump might or might not do. Nobody is arguing that what he says he's going to do is wrong. The question is how is he going to do it.
What he does can undone by some future administration and should be considered temporary.
How he does it could well open up a Pandora's box we should be demanding be nailed shut.
J for John. DJT in 2016.
[And, BTW... Any attempted maneuver to get Cruz voters to go to Rubio will not work. No way, no how. They will just go to Donald Trump.
The reason they liked Cruz in the first place was because he was actively against the Republican Establishment. Any back-room deal that tries to get them to move in the Establishment direction will fail spectacularly.]
Yep.
[Anti-Trump are running on fear. They fear Trump wonât do the things he promise he will do. What if he will? Will you still be afraid?]
Oh, I expect him to work with Pelosi and Schumer, but that’s the only I expect Trump to do that he’s promised to do. Buyers remorse for those who tossed Cruz aside in favor of this charlatan will sink in soon enough.
I would vote for DT if he joined The Constitution Party.
[IF you listen to one of his rally for 1hr youâll know]
No, that’s just campaigning. You need to look at the things he said and did before he was campaigning for your vote.
