When the smoke all clears, we will be reviewing the vote counts from the Nevada Caucus as if it was a legitimate election. But the buzz on Twitter from people on the ground suggests that it is anything but.
For some background, Nevada politics is amazingly crooked, to the point that one might criticize The Godfather movies for having an unduly naive picture of the state's political culture. Former GOP Governor Jim Gibbons lost in a primary in 2010 under a cloud of ethical and sexual improprieties. Democratic former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid - a major recipient of Donald Trump's donations - made a fortune in public office due to his many corruptions. Even John Ensign, a Republican Senator with a distinguished record, left office under a cloud of sex scandal. The Nevada Caucus, a new creature since 2008, already has a significant history of shenanigans and mischief. The process is so subject to abuse that even the Democrats were warning of possible illegalities in advance of their caucus on Saturday.

Some posting don’t seem to understand what’s allowed at a caucus. If they don’t like electioneering then they should get their lawmakers to switch to regular elections as electioneering is allowed at caucuses. Nevada is a relative newcomer to the process having only had it since 2008.

On the Dim side maybe. Just voted in the NV Republican caucus and ID was mandatory at my site.
I think they said in the November election it’ll be no ID required.

Nevada is a no ID to vote state apparently.

That would be because the general election is run by the state. The NV caucus is run by the state’s political parties. Hopefully sometime in the near future, ID will be required to vote in the state’s general elections.....not holding my breath.

Because everybody knows that Governors with ethical and sexual improprieties should be re-elected in a landslide if the system were fair.

Too bad Cruz has established such an aura of dishonesty in his campaign. He can cry like a baby that the NV caucuses were bogus, but no one will believe him, much less care.
