If you had told us when Donald Trump entered the race that he would take second place in Iowa, win New Hampshire easily, and then triumph in South Carolina, youâd have needed smelling salts to revive us. But heâs done it, and no one else has really been able to shake the intense hold he has on about a third of the Republican Party.
The old question becomes THE question: Can Trump expand his ceiling to 40% and above, as the number of opponents dwindles?

Also, if the Senate confirms whatever Constitution-wrecker Obama nominates to the Supreme Court.
Should have pinged you... LOL.
I am leery of picking someone I wouldn’t have selected to support for the top spot.
Rubio, Christie... and a few others come to mind.
He needs to pick a very solid person to carry on when he can’t.
Sure, Trump will increase his hold on the polls to 40 and even 50 percent. Trump is expected to win big in NV tomorrow. With 3 BIG wins in a row, you will start seeing poll after poll showing Trump at 40 and above as people start voting for a winner instead of the two guys who are always fighting for 2nd and 3rd place. You will also see donations to Rubio and Cruz drying up, as no one wants to waste their money on lost causes. The gope will undoubtedly attempt to prop up Rubio with cash and attack ads from Super PAC’s, but they’ve already spent millions on attack ads directed against Trump in Iowa, NH and SC, and it didn’t turn out well for them in any of those states.
I think the "Party" must know the handwriting is on the wall. Everybody is in for now, while understanding that the field coalesces around Trump after Super Tuesday.
Trump wins, picks Rubio as VP. Kasich gets a touchy-feely cabinet post. Cruz gets a vague promise of future Supreme Court nod.
Game over early; infighting ceases. Millions saved. United full court press on the Dems while Bernie and Hillary fight it out for a long long time.
Trump holds rallies around the clock in purple and appropriate blue states. Big time push for down-ballot races.
Cruz gets back in Senate with one mission: Block Obama's pick. His own future seat might depend on it.
Rubio doesn't speak another word of English until November. It's all Hispanic outreach.
Kasich is the "softer side" of the Republicanism, hosting townhalls with soccer Moms across America.
It will be a landslide.
I had thought of a solid VP selection, but right now, I have too much unrelated stuff cluttering my mind, and for the life left in me, I can’t think of “his” name.
The name will come to me and whenever it does, I’ll make a written note so I can tell you to get your opinion.
Hey Sherlock this universe. Rubio polls much better then Trump against Hillary
I think you are right about a lot going on behind the scenes. I’m just not sure the deals are breaking the way you see them.
Very difficult to put the “nasty man, worst liar” Cruz on SCOTUS.
Bernie and Hillary’s fight is all but over. Super delegates have already crowned Hillary. It’s all a sick show now.
Rubio helps with the Catholic vote as well as the Latino. Rubio has several strengths, aside from his youth. I’m sure Trump has been looking at him, so we must see how hard he goes after him on his “eligibility.”
I’d like to believe that deals are in progress behind the scenes, but I don’t think so because Trump is too smart for that. Trump knows that everyone is out to get him.
Rubio is an anchor baby. Ineligible.
Why stop there? If the establishment is really dead-set on beating Trump, why not advocate a Hillary/Rubio Team?
I wonder if Trump is interested in any deals.
He’s the catbird right now. He can make his own decisions with owing contributors. I doubt he’s looking to give away his decisions for gain, because he owns the whole thing right now. What do they have to give him? Nada.
The man is looking darn near winning Maine, New York, and possibly even California. He’s definitely in play in those places, and most others.
I agree with your idea on a landslide. It’s honestly going to be what???? Yuge!
LOL
Thank you. I’d like that.
I’m not here to give you a hard time, but my problems with Rubio start and end at his stance on immigration. In addition, he’s just too GOPe cozy. Right now, he is their man.
Do I want him next in line to replace Trump? no
I believe I already responded to this, perhaps not, but my thoughts are that we need someone who can continue Trump’s legacy after he leaves office.
We can’t have him pick someone who will Bush him as soon as he moves on.
Reagan was betrayed by his successor.
To me, Rubio's problems start but don't end there. Rubio is an empty suit, he's a Golden Boy who has been hyped up by the GOP establishment on account of his youth and looks in spite of virtually no accomplishments to his name, few if any core principles or values, and one of the worst attendance records in the Senate. His pull-my-string toy performance at the NH debate should have proven to all but the most smitten that Golden Boy doesn't have what it takes for the highest office of the land.
So, Rubio gets to be VP. Trump has already indicated he was a politician from a battleground state. Rubio is as good a choice as most. And he comes with a lot of upside.
So, Kasich gets to be Secretary of HHS or something like that. No big deal.
Cruz to Supreme Court? That will make a lot of people happy, not the least of which being most of the Senate.
In return, the primary is over. He's locked in the nomination, giving himself an excellent chance of the Presidency.
It's not a bad deal.
I used that phrase and realized it might come back to haunt me.
You are right. He’s a GOPe gopher. He’s problematic in a number of areas, so here’s my mia culpa.
Rubio: no
Kasich: no
Cruz: no
Some deals are best unmade.
Not trying to be snotty about this, but I have reasons for not wanted to see these appointments.
Take care...
Hey, I just early voted for Trump!
Early voting place said turnout has been low this year. Interesting, don't know if that's the norm for all of Tennessee or not. Tomorrow is last day for early voting here.
