Erickson: I'm never voting for Trump
Politico ^ | February 22, 2016 | Nick Gass

Erick Erickson will no longer support Donald Trump if he is the Republican presidential nominee, the conservative pundit declared on Monday, citing in particular the Manhattan businessman's support of Planned Parenthood. "I have become convinced that Donald Trump’s pro-life conversion is a conversion of convenience," he wrote in a post on his website, The Resurgent. "Life is the foremost cause in how I vote. Therefore I will not be voting for Donald Trump at all. Ever."

I know what matters in this case. Trump is taking on Political correctness, he says what others are literally afraid to say. That is enough for me. Everything else doesn’t really matter to me at this point. Abortion, gay marriage, women on the front lines, sanctuary cities all comes down to people afraid to speak out against it. It’s not that people agree with this crap, they are AFRAID. They are scared that they will become social pariah, lose their jobs (including elections). It’s really sad in what should be a free country. Trump says what is now unspeakable. It’s among the best things that can be done for the country. An equally offensive offender to show people that you can speak out and you don’t have to be afraid. You don’t have to convince people that gay marriage is wrong, people already instinctively know that. You just have to give them the courage to speak out. You may not see it now but Trump is giving a lot of people the courage to say what’s on their minds. Until people are no longer afraid people like Cruz or others who hold out of the mainstream (from the media’s perspective) views will never be elected and even if they were they could never implement their agenda.

This erikson cretin is too self-important to realize that no one really cares what he says, what he is going to do, who he is going to vote for, what kind of panties he’s wearing or anything.

“Because that’s justified......suuure!’

on what he’s said and where he’s stood on issues we see as not negotiable? Of course it is.

Are we still posting this windbag's social commentaries?

Good question. Erickson has little to say that hasn't already been posted somewhere else, he regurgitates more than he originates and if he has chosen to state preemptively that he refuses to vote for Trump (and by default give his support to the 'RATS), I say the miserable little pissant has no place having his diatribes posted on FR.

Put him on the 'banned' list.

“Ok so Trump was just suppose to sit still and let the self styled “Conservatives” throw all the punches they wanted?’

No, but go after them on the issues. But he’s shown he’s not capable of anything but personal insults.

Funny that his commentaries are even being posted...and, that he’s being labeled a ‘conservative’.

“Trump will find people who care more about the Country than their over inflated little egos.”

Yeah, he’s pandering pretty hard for the Liberal vote.

This is a good thing. People are choosing sides. Those that want to keep the country going in the direction it has been going in, and those that want to change direction.

Trump represent those that think we are going in the wrong direction.

I look at this primary season as a referendum on the Obama years. Only one candidate is providing an opposing view.

(Yes, Cruz might say the right things but his voice is not being heard by the people which indicates he is not strong enough to stand against the left in my opinion.)

So much gasbaggery. On ALL sides.
If only the pro-Trumps would say, in a few words, why they are pro-Trump, and if only the anti-Trumps would address that response!
The tsunami of illegals is beyond serious, it’s in the acute stage.
It’s like an acute illness that conventional medicine has failed to remedy or even slow down. It’s going to be fatal. The patient has nothing to lose by unconventional medicine. It’s understood: the unconventional, untested treatment could have unforeseeable side effects. There are risks. Nobody really knows. But we are fairly sure that it will at least lessen the symptoms and the damage. With some help from Heaven and if we all pull together, a cure is possible.

I voted for McCain and Romney too, knowing they were both crappy candidates and would probably lose, because I didn’t want to suffer through the Obama administration.

Now, I will vote for whoever the Republican nominee is, yes, probably even if it is a globalist stooge, because I don’t want to suffer through a Hillary or Bernie administration. And if the nominee is Trump, I feel like he actually will have a chance of winning this time, and if he doesn’t, at least I tried. It’s worth the hour it takes to feel like I at least did my part, even if the guy I’m voting for loses, or I don’t agree with him 100%. Better than the culture of the “free s**t army” Dem socialists getting the bully pulpit of the Presidency to preach to future generations that you can just sit back and rake in tax dollars while you play Xbox.

And if Trump wins, I’ll also buy a gallon of gas and a fiddle. I’ll be dancing on the smoldering remains of the GOPe/RNC gravy train though. :)

If America wakes, Trump and his liberalism, his political expediency and his pro-life conversion of convenience will be kicked to the curb.

Trump is part businessman, part bully and part buffoon and would be a disaster for conservatism and for America.

Yes indeed, pray for America.

He’s not pandering, he is saying what he believes. Some things are to the left and some (more) to the right but at least it’s what’s really one his mind. He’s not poll testing everything and making sure it won’t offend everyone. He’s speaking like someone who has his own thoughts and he’s not being fed what to say. This is the opposite of pandering (which is why just about everyone is complaining about something he’s said)

Why should Trump get special treatment?

So you'll stop your crying when posters point out Cruz's inconsistencies?

BTW, did you see Cruz had to apologize again for playing dirty tricks on Rubio? He surely has some kind of problem. (remember, no special treatment of candidates)

One of the historic truisms in the past several election cycles is the Cruz Coalition, as currently assembled, is the first to stay home when their candidate does not win. The socially-minded voter will never vote for a populist fiscal conservative/socially moderate candidate. Cruz voters, and their advocates, are emotionally driven by social issues. Hence they yell a lot (See Mark Levin) and only respond well to others who are inside their echo-chamber.

Consequently neither Rubio nor Trump will try to gain/court Cruz voters. Why should they; the narrow-minded group will never vote for them, if they vote at all.

This non-voting truism is why the GOPe ignore the Cruz-like factions completely; because rarely will the GOPe be influenced by them. When Cruz Clan get angry and do not get their way they do not vote.

The modern way to deal with that faction is to make them angry, and they leave. Example: Questioning eligibility sets them off easily and they lose control. They might even invite another sketchy character, Glenn Beck, to help showcase their entrenched ideological moonbattery.) See how easy that is? More exposure to the crazy = less votes in crazy camp.

Both Trump and Rubio will most likely ignore Cruz, as neither stands to benefit much.
