I believe Cruz is highly competent, brilliant even. I think the driving force within him is only the good he can do for the country.
I do believe, based on some of his choices of those around him (like Glenn Beck and those who have immersed him in several imbroglios to which he is forced to do the right thing and apologize) is not good ‘radar’ in terms of judging allies and colleagues. He HAS to get better at this or manage his underlings and supporters better if he wants to beat Rubio (first) and then Trump (if that’s possible).
I’m honestly beginning to question the whole career politician thing, which I have never thought about as I am now, especially after being so surprised with what is going on in Cruz’s campaign and possibly with Cruz himself, I don’t know.
Unlike many, I believe God put self interest in us to survive and thrive. Nothing wrong with self-interest per se, it’s what make the world go ‘round. But I’m beginning to think that with a career politician, self-interest mutates into seeking political gain because politics has become that person’s career. Maybe for that reason, term limits make sense.
One of my biggest bugaboos with Cruz is his failure to have made arrangements for a federal court to rule on his eligibility as an NBC (either an advisory opinion that could be considered mandatory authority or an actual case to get this thing put to bed). To me, if Cruz is nominated, he is risking the GOP nominee being DQ’d and if he loses the gamble, handing the election over to the Socialists. To me he is gambling on America’s future for the sake of his own political prospects. I looks like more career politician stuff to me and really turns me off.
